This is a registered animal welfare charity in North Eastern Thailand, giving sanctuary to 550+ abused, abandoned, injured & disabled dogs & cats - many of them rescued from the horrific dog meat trade on our borders.
Often taking in the 'unwanted' cases, we in pride ourselves in giving all our animals a chance at a better life, even if they might be a bit broken - as such a fair number of our furry family are 'special needs' animals (eg. blind, disabled).
Our facilities include a small veterinary clinic from where we dispense basic care and perform sterilizations, as well as a rehabilitation pool for exercising our disabled residents.
As our dearest wish is that they get to live life in a forever home, we actively seek and facilitate local & international adoptions.

Experience 'real' Thai culture, fully immersed in rural Thailand.
Situated 45km outside the city of Khon Kaen in the Isaan region of Thailand, our sanctuary is surrounded by wide open rice fields and farms with lingering mountains in the distance - our location makes for living close to nature in a peaceful setting (with spectacular sunsets!), the way that rural Thai communities do.
Seeing as 95% of our staff are Thai, you are sure to pick up a few Thai words and phrases too.
For a uniquely authentic experience, venture off the beaten tracks of Thailand, join our team and share our world - it will be one you'll never forget!
We are fiercely dedicated to helping as many animals as possible, but with very limited resources at hand our mission faces very challenges times - we need all the help we can get!
Our ideal volunteer is a passionate, hardworking, motivated and mature (regardless of age) animal enthusiast - someone who is committed, proactive and independent, willing to roll up their sleeves and do what needs to be done, and ready to brave difficult situations - helping at our sanctuary can be emotionally challenging.
We host people from all walks of life - if you can show love to our animals, you are welcome!
Socialization is one of our biggest needs, so a working knowledge or experience in dog training/behavior and animal handling (eg. moving disabled dogs in & out of wheelchairs, hydrotherapy, enrichment practices, etc.) would be valued bonus.
Other ways in which we'd appreciate a helping hand are also things like handyman tasks/ building maintenance, marketing & social media, web design/ development, fundraising initiatives and general admin tasks such as maintaining our animal shelter database.
We are also always on the lookout for photographers and/or videographers to carry & promote our message to the world.
We would love for you to join our team and meet our furry friends - you are sure to lose your heart!
The Volunteer House is located in the shelter area.
We have two rooms - one shared room 3 single beds, 1 bunk bed and a private room with a double bed for a couple.
Volunteers can use our swimming pool and communal kitchen, they can also make a free laundry.
We don't charge for accommodation, it's free.
We kindly ask our volunteers for 5$/150 baht a day for meals ( homemade vegetarian Thai style lunch and dinner upon your dietary). We provide free drinking water.
The volunteers will be asked to arrive on the same day, which will be on Sunday.
There is a national park nearby, lake scenery and many hidden villages to discover.
Given our rural location, public transportation (taxis & buses) is limited but we do have a couple of pushbikes that our volunteers are welcome to for exploring the local village.
Transportation for excursion day trips can be pre-arranged.
Please note that travel /health insurance is mandatory to volunteer with us.
Contact us for availability details and placement arrangements.
Once you’ve secured your booking, to help you prepare for your exciting adventure, we’ll provide you with further information on topics such as visas, budgeting, health considerations (eg. vaccinations), arrival/departure arrangements, what to pack, transportation, more excursions to go on, Thai culture, religion & language, what to expect while living in the Kingdom of Thailand, and what you’ll be getting up to as a volunteer.
We look forward to introducing you to our furry family!

In developing countries (Where most hosts are involved in charity work or community development) some of our hosts may ask for a small donation to help the host family or charity (often less then 5 dollars per day) Workaway will allow this listing when the donation goes directly to the family or charity and is just to cover the cost of the volunteer‘s stay. (This will be clearly marked on the host listing).
We will strictly not allow listings posted by agents, “middle men” or projects who we feel are looking to profit from a volunteers stay.
These are extra optional ratings when members leave feedback. The average rating left for each option is displayed.
