I have practice environmental management for the last 8 years and have decided on a change and started beekeeping. I have studied environmental science in Cairns and traveled the world with my degree and still believe this is one of the best places on earth.

Beekeeping is the main thing to learn here, but we also have a alternative lifestyle living in the bush away from the city were we choose the hours we work.

This time of year is the best for good weather for going to the reef.

I'm a beekeeper that operates between Cairns and Cooktown. At the moment living in Cow Bay. The work involves collecting bee hives for honey extraction and queen bee rearing this gives us plenty of time to explore the local areas. Making bee hives is another job in Bloomfield which is situated 35 km north of Cape Tribulation 500m from the Weary Bay Beach and a few kilometers from the Bloomfield River. In spare time we like to show guest the swimming holes, beachs and short walks.

When the weather permits we go to reef and tropical Islands snorkeling, fishing and exploring.

The work is not hard, suits male or females and is always varied, recreational activities after work as discussed above include swimming, hanging out at the beach, camping, croc spotting and reef trips.
