    Description

    Hello,

We are Ruby and Dimi and we have recently bought the most beautiful manor house in the south of France just outside Carcasonne. The most beautiful thing about the house is the ring of ancient woodland which surrounds us, protects us and provides a haven for the birds who you can hear sing all day long. It feels like you are in another world when in fact you are only 15 mins from the city of Carcasone with its international airport and train service. At 2 and a half hours from Barcelona, an hour from the Mediteranian coast and the Pyranees, in many ways you are right in the middle of everything.

We are planning on setting up a permaculture centre run with regenerative agricultural practices where we can hold educational ecological programs and artists retreats, which will be run as not for profit. But this is all a little while off at the moment it is just our private home and there are no commercial practices. This year we are focussing on getting up and running and have numerous projects that we need help with from converting the chlorinated pool to a natural swimming pond to installing a butterfly house and general pollinator breeding ground, to planting a food forrest, installing tapestry lawns there is work a plenty in all areas of interest. Although we will have professionals leading each project we want to use as little machinery as possible and the only way to do that is to have man power! What ever your area of interest Im sure we will have work for you. Because we are currently doing the building project accommodation will be rustic but in a beautiful setting and with a community around you. We have a selection of ariba familiar vintage caravans for you to stay in. Although Meals will be provided, a largely vegetarian menu from our vegetable garden (although there will be some meat as we are not a vegetarian farm) and we will all eat together you have use of your own little kitchenette in the caravan. Most importantly we hope to provide an environment in which we can all learn and grow from each other and provide a haven to all.

    Help

We have a huge variety of projects that we need help with from converting the chlorinated pool to a natural swimming pond to installing a butterfly house and general pollinator breeding ground, to planting a food forrest, installing tapestry lawns there is work a plenty in all areas of interest. We are looking to preserve the original features of this beautiful 200 year old so each task has to be carried out with care which requires people. We also plan to build yurts using our own bamboos so we would love you to help us cut, treat and tie the bamboos. Whether you have an interest in ecological projects, gardening, natural building DIY or building projects we need your passion! If you have skills and experience in any of these areas all the better.

Because we are currently doing the building project accommodation will be rustic (probably caravan or tent) but in a beautiful setting and with a community around you. Meals will be provided, a largely vegetarian menu from our vegetable garden (although there will be some meat as we are not a vegetarian farm) Obviously people with an interest in cooking and food preservation will be very welcome to get involved in that part of the project.
