We are a 50-something couple on a farm in the countryside, about 20 km west of the town of Quesnel, not far from historical gold-rush town of Barkerville and nearby arts town of Wells, BC, in the heart of the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada.
We raise Cashmere goats, Icelandic sheep and chickens, as naturally as we respectfully can, all under the watch of Akbash guardian dogs and one (half dog - don't tell her we said that) border collie/blue heeler. Here we produce much of our own hay and while not focused on organic, we are continuously working to improve our animal husbandry, and land and garden stewardship practices to achieve sustainable balance.

Help in the house
You can learn about cashmere goat husbandry, cashmere harvest, the lifestyle of a small, rural community in Central British Columbia. It depends on the time of year, but there are opportunities to explore, hike, canoe, fish, ski, snowshoe, garden, help with haymaking on a small scale, play with cute baby goats, breathe fresh air.
Help on the farm according to the time of year and your interests and aptitude:
*combing cashmere - February/March;
*tending to goats kidding & sheep lambing in springtime - April/May;
*tending goats with their guardian dogs, on open pasture - May to Sept;
*helping with haymaking - summer;
*helping with gardening (turning soil, *composting, weeding, building garden beds, harvesting) - June through September;
*feeding hay to the goats, sheep and horses - winter.
**from May onward this year we will be very busy renovating and cleaning the farm yard.
