Description
We’re looking for someone to join our team from early November through to around the end of January.
This could be a great opportunity for a digital nomad, traveller, or someone with their own online work who would love a place to stay while working a few hours in a relaxed rural café and exploring the beautiful Coromandel.
Accommodation is free of charge, and we have a dedicated Wi-Fi space available in the café, making this ideal for someone who has online work or other work they can do alongside their café hours, but anyone interested is also welcome.
The important thing to understand is that hours will be very limited and unpredictable initially.
From early November, hours could be anywhere from no hours on some days to around 5 hours on a busy day. As we move into our busy summer period, the number of café hours will gradually increase.
Because of this, we’re looking for someone who is happy with low and unpredictable hours initially, rather than someone relying on the café for full-time employment.
You’ll be working alongside me in our café. I generally look after the kitchen, while you’ll be responsible for:
Front-of-house service
Making coffee
Counter service
Serving and chatting with customers
Keeping the café tidy and running smoothly
Previous café experience, including coffee making and front-of-house service, is essential.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Friendly and approachable
Reliable and self-motivated
Energetic and hardworking
Able to take instructions and work independently
Fluent in English
Comfortable being flexible and available when needed
Because our hours can vary considerably, some on-call flexibility is important.
Over the summer period I will hire more staff and you will be sharing the accommodation with maybe up to 2 or 3 other people.
All hours worked are paid at minimum wage
Maximum possible commitment is 5 days / 40 hours per week
Actual hours will be much lower initially
Hours are expected to increase as we get closer to Christmas and the busy summer season
Having your own online work would be ideal but not necessary.
If you’re looking for a beautiful place to base yourself over summer, have café experience, and like the idea of free accommodation, Wi-Fi, flexible café work and plenty of time to explore the Coromandel, we’d love to hear from you!
Please get in touch and tell me a little about yourself and your café experience.
Thanks,
Cathy -

We live in a small rural community but are so close to beautiful beaches, great walks. We are on a farm so you will be able to see how our running farm works. The meat from our farm is sold and cooked in our café. As is our orchard fruit and garden veges made into pickles and jams.
We’re in a rural location, so having your own vehicle is recommended, although not essential.
We also have space available if you have your own campervan, with free parking. -

Accommodation
Self contained accommodation. Right by were you will be working. Laundry, kitchen facilities, hot water, toilet and shower provided. Located right next to the local general store too. I live next door with my two boys, so we’re looking for someone who is respectful, friendly and happy to help keep the accommodation clean and tidy.

What else ...
We live quite rural so a car would be essential and our village is very quiet so someone who likes their own company and doesn't mind the quiet would be perfect.
