Description
I am a single English lady living in rural France. I breed Golden Retrievers and Cocker Spaniels. I have currently 8, plus a Kooikerhondje, that is a dog! I occasionally have puppies. I also have 2 cats. My neighbours have a Limousin beef farm. The landscape is very picturesque. I enjoy going to dog shows both in France and abroad and would require help to look after the dogs when I am away. There is a double bedroom available. Because it is so rural, it is very quiet.

I have a vegetable garden that has a mind of its own. For the dogs, confidence is essential, experience with dogs is beneficial but not essential. I am able to help with the dogs a lot but it is best if you are confident and happy to deal with them without constant assistance. They are all very well behaved, but they need attention and further training to stop bad habits e.g. barking. Walking, grooming the dogs.

The house was built around 1850 with thick granite walls. It has central heating and internet. There is a double bedroom and workaways would have the freedom of the place. I generally eat basic English meals but am open to new tastes. The cooking and cleaning of the house are shared duties.
What else ...
In Folles, about 3k away, there is a bar/restaurant and in La Souterraine 15k, there are shops, and 40 minutes is Limoges. I am happy to help those staying with me by dropping them to local towns or the train station for days off. I do not expect you to work everyday.

Millie stayed with me for about 2 weeks. She was hard working and helped a lot with the dogs, especially Jumbo, a young cocker puppy.
The dogs adored her and even Mr Darcy my shy cat stayed around to have his ears scratched.
Highly recommended but be sure to have a large supply of tomatoes!!

Fernando was with me for a couple of weeks.
He was extremely hard working, straining his muscles helping me lay concrete!!
He also installed another laptop for me and sorted out some IT problems.
Fernando will do very well wherever he goes.
I hope he will return to me next year.

In an exchange of this rich experience I tried to help where I could, assembled wheelping wooden boxes, logging, walked the dogs where'd they swim and run in the nature. Although JP was only with me for a short visit, he worked really hard with loads of enthusiasm. He built me 2 whelping boxes (boxes for my girls to have their puppies in). The standard of his work was outstanding.

Helga was with me for about 10 days. A delightful lady who worked very hard, the kitchen has never been so clean!!
The dogs loved her and I think Peace was the one Helga would have taken home with her. Poppy cat enjoyed the attention as well.

Ryan was with me for just over a week. He fitted in very well. The dogs adored him and he was very hardworking, reducing the small mountain of wood into logs for the winter.
He was clean & tidy and ate everything I put in front of him.

I spent 7-8 days in Sally's house. There was my first workaway experience and I think it was a good decision. In my opinion I went at the best time about puppies. I loved them, they were incredible, cute as another dogs too!

Regina stayed with me for about a month. At the end of it she still had trouble telling some of the dogs apart!! Regina mucked in with any & everything although gardening was not really her forté she did very well. It was a pleasure to welcome her into my home.
