    Description

We welcome help from beginning of December until mid January, where you can sleep and stay in our Campervan, which has a big bed, tabel, small bathroom and kitchen.

We are a small family: I'm Ronja (German), my husband Joris (French), our 21-month-old daughter, and our Australian Shepherd, Kala. Kala is a bit shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she'll love you. We've just moved to our land in central Portugal. Our property includes a ruin, a small forest, and some flat land with olive trees and a well.

We have a compost toilet, a beautiful fully equiped outdoor kitchen, a wooden "gipsy trailer" which we are building at the moment and we have a small vegetable garden, where you are welcome to help and improve it. The land and the house have a lot of potential and we would like some help!

Our vision is to create a sanctuary rooted in permaculture principles—a space where friends and family can come to recharge and live in harmony with nature. We delight in involving our daughter in the process of growing our own food and preserving it for the entire year. Our goal is to achieve a mostly self-sufficient lifestyle as soon as possible.

While we have some foundational knowledge of permaculture, we are eager to learn more and deepen our understanding. Additionally, we are very interested in natural building techniques. We hope to renovate part of our house for the upcoming winter and would greatly appreciate any help and guidance with this project.

For now, we are living and sleeping in a bell tent. We're just 15 minutes away from a beautiful lake, perfect for swimming and usually quite empty of people.

We love good vegetarian and vegan food, and mealtime is our family time. We also enjoy playing guitar and singing, doing sports, dancing, and going for hikes. You are more than welcome to join us in our daily routines and activities. We are very open-minded and always happy to have good conversations. Our family language is English, but we both speak German and French, and we are eager to learn Portuguese.

    Help

We need help with various tasks around the house and garden and we need help with looking after our 2 year old daughter. If you enjoy cooking, you are more than welcome to assist with this as well. Joris is a landscaper and is really handy with all kinds of work, but an extra hand or some carpentry advice would be greatly appreciated.

As our dog really doesn't like cats, unfortunately, we can't welcome any here. If you have a dog, Kala is generally fine with most of them, although she may take some time to get used to them. With very small dogs, she can be a bit more complicated. Please let us know what animals you have, and we can discuss how they might fit in with our situation.
