Description
Are you a fan of nature and tranquility? Then you will love it here, and I would love your help! We are located on a beautiful
"Island" to one side we have the chacahua lagoon and to the other a 10mile beach. Even though this is supposed to be a protected area it has little or no help from the government and so a lot of it is being destroyed, we are hoping to make a difference by converting our piece of land into a food forest, eco/holistic learning center and turtle/animal sanctuary, by this we hope to influence our neighbors and in the long run save this beautiful place. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Chacahua is paradise, a small community lives on the "point" this is where most backpackers stay, you can find amazing waves for surfing, soccer n beach volleyball, nice beach and lagoon for swimming, as well as restaurants and a bar( most places close by 11/12pm) sometimes later 2/3am on Saturdays. The point is about an hour beach walk or a $1usd 15min shuttle away.
There's 2 other communities to visit and explore, and many other activities like hiking, bird watching, fishing etc. Turtles nest right in front of our property so that's awesome too. Depending on your motivation, you can have a lot of quiet self time, or your day can be filled exploring the surroundings and interacting with the locals. -

Accommodation
As the project is just getting started, everything is still very "rustic", think camping under the stars in a deserted island, Shared living space in cabaña including bedding, pillows and sheets , if that appeals to you, then this is the place. There's compost toilet and out door shower(well more like bucket shower), fire/gas cooking, limited electricity for charging phones/wifi, beach palapa with hammock and fire pit. Food: I provide basic staples like tea, rice, beans, lentils, oil, salt and kitchen utensils, it's up to you to compliment and cook your meals. I do love cooking and sharing meals so most likely I'll cook for everyone often, but don't want it to be a responsibility of mine as I have loads going on.

What else ...
The place is beautiful once you arrive, but it's a Bit of an adventure getting here. We are located an hour from Puerto Escondido, the closest large city, world class surf, night life and everything a top tourist destination needs is there, as well as international airport. Ways to get here:
Easy/expensive $32USD private taxi+shared boat+shuttle
Bit of hassle/cheapest $7.5usd shuttle+shared taxi+shared boat+shuttle
Once here you can reach the near by communities by walking, canoe, or
Dollar shuttle. Nearest town with ATM is Rio grande 30mins away.

Sand under my feet, yoga under the stars, sunset walks on the serene beach.
Plant-watering, sand raking, other odd-jobs.
Good communication, sweet dinners together, very easy-going.
Really recommend.
The project is on its starting point and so there are many chances to help and learn, sharing ideas and work. And also with the ducks, chickens and cats!
