  • Description

    Description

What is unique about the farm is that we are located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, only a half hour from Cleveland, a major metropolitan city located on Lake Erie. There is plenty to see and do locally and regionally.

On the farm, we need help with our flock of Dorset sheep, Rouen ducks, border collies, and horses. A project that we are working on is out tall spindle orchard. We also have gardens of spicy herbs, vegetables, and flowers to tend. And, located near an urban area, we are often asked to give farm tours and host some special events.

Obviously, you can learn about shepherding and sustainable farming, explore the natural and historic landscapes in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Great Lakes area, and visit all the museums and attractions in the greater Cleveland area. Culturally, NE Ohio is part of what "American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures in North America" calls Yankeedom. We are part of the Western Reserve, an area settled by New England. Once an industrial region, we just celebrated the 50th anniversary of the burning of our Cuyahoga River which let to environmental protection in the states. Our river and lake have come back. Today, you can kayak in the river and swim in the lake.
