Description
I am a young human rights lawyer and I live with my beloved pooch, Poppy the Pomeranian, in a charming old fixer-upper house in a small seaside town in northern New Brunswick.
I love northern New Brunswick because it feels like home. I love the fresh, salty Atlantic air; the beaches; the fresh seafood; the beautiful trails; the friendly east Coast hospitality; the ability to speak either English or French anywhere I go; the slower pace of life. This is the authentic maritimes.
I am currently going through the approval process to become a foster parent, but in the meantime there is a lot of work that needs to be done at my house to prepare for fostering. My house has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lots of character, and lots of space to foster - and, in the meantime, to host workawayers!Types of help and learning opportunities
Gardening
DIY and building projects
Animal Care
Creating/ Cooking family meals
Help around the house
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
My current weekday schedule consists of:
Monday - gym
Tuesday - golf
Wednesday - home projects
Thursday - wing night at Joey's (local watering hole)
Friday - marina (boats)
You are welcome to join me in any or all of these activities, or we can do other things like: day trips to nearby attractions; go for hikes; go to the beach; etc.
Happy to be your local guide and show you many of the cool things northern New Brunswick / Atlantic Canada / the east coast / Acadian peninsula has to offer!Help
I would love help with fixing up this old house. I need support with tasks like: interior painting; exterior painting; gardening; some light demo (removing old peeling linoleum floors); some woodworking (adding bannisters to exterior stairs).
I have all the tools/materials and I am happy to teach these skills along the way if they are new to my workawayer(s). Many hands make for light work!
I am also happy to accept help with pet care (little Poppy the pom loves playing with new friends); cooking/meal prep; tidying/etc.Languages

I have two (2) guest bedrooms available. Both rooms have locking doorknobs are are totally furnished, and I have all the bedding etc.
1. The first guest bedroom is on the main floor off of the kitchen. It is a large room with an exposed closet, a dresser, nightstand and double bed. There is a bathroom down the hall with a shower, that could be for your exclusive use.
2. The second guest bedroom is upstairs, next to my bedroom. It has a twin bed, dresser, desk, and a small closet. You could use the bathroom downstairs (with a shower), or share the upstairs bathroom with me (it has a bath).
New washer and dryer in the basement.
On the main floor there is also the kitchen, the living room, my office, and a large sunroom.
For meals - personally I joke that "I don't cook/I don't clean" (haha) so I eat a lot of frozen and prepared meals.... I am happy to purchase whatever groceries you want, especially if you don't mind cooking for us!! My kitchen is pretty well equipped (air fryer, rice cooker etc). What else ...
I work from home during the day and can't be disturbed when on calls/etc. I am an extraverted introvert, in that I like to socialize but I need my alone time.
I have a little SUV and I can do pickups/drop offs from airport (Bathurst or Moncton) or Via Rail train station (Bathurst). There are cabs in town.
If you like seafood- you will love the maritimes
Fun things to do on day trips include: Acadian village; kitesurfing lessons; go fishing; and moreA little more information
