    Description

Hi! My name is Mónica, I am 46 years old and live on a rural property of about 0.8 hectares in Esmelle, Galicia, in a very quiet and sparsely populated area, surrounded by nature and close to the sea. I moved to the farm about 5 months ago, so the project is still at an early stage, although the main house is fully renovated and comfortable.

I live with my 18-year-old son, who studies in Ferrol and spends part of his time there and part at the farm. His sisters live in Madrid and visit occasionally. We also live with a calm and friendly dog, and from time to time friends come to lend a hand with small everyday tasks around the property.

The purpose of hosting is cultural exchange, shared learning and experiencing rural life in a natural environment. I am especially interested in ecological agriculture, simple living and building a sustainable long-term lifestyle connected to the land.

Typical activities include helping in the vegetable garden, planting and caring for fruit trees, organizing outdoor spaces, maintaining paths and general light tasks that are part of everyday rural life.
All activities are small-scale, shared and learning-based, and never professional construction or skilled trade work.

The usual rhythm is 4–5 hours of help per day, mostly in the morning, leaving the rest of the day free to rest, explore the area or enjoy the nearby beaches.

Helpers stay in a room inside the house with a shared bathroom. Food is provided so everyone can cook individually or share meals together, depending on the day. We eat a mixed diet and try to use local and seasonal products whenever possible.

Alongside the farm project, I work as a freelance photographer and videographer and I am also a student of anthropology. I combine this creative and academic work with building a new life in the countryside. I value an open-minded, respectful and dynamic atmosphere where people can share experiences, learn from each other and enjoy living close to nature.

The surroundings are one of the most special parts of the experience: there are beautiful walks through the valley, fields and nearby forests, and wild beaches very close by with excellent surf conditions. This is an ideal place for people who enjoy nature, the sea and a simple, meaningful rural lifestyle.

Hola!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

In addition to the farm project, I work as a freelance photographer and videographer and am an anthropology student, which I combine with this new chapter in my life in the countryside. I see the farm as a space full of possibilities, with an open, dynamic, and collaborative atmosphere, where we can learn by doing and share experiences. The surroundings are one of the great attractions of the place: there are trails for walking and exploring the valley, meadows and forest, and nearby wild beaches with excellent surfing conditions. It's an ideal place for people who enjoy the sea, nature, and a simple lifestyle, and who want to be part of a real, growing rural project.
