    Description

Our unique acreage is perched on the western edge of the Canadian Rocky Mountains; we are a 10 minute drive from Golden, a town just west of Banff & Yoho National Parks.
Your hosts are a younger to middle aged couple, no kids, one old dog.
We like hiking, river dips, lawn games & disc golf, going to live music, watching hockey, exploring and having fun in our free time.
One of us has a job in town during the week days while the other has downsized work commitments so we can focus more on what's really important, enjoying this beautiful place we call home.
We have various ongoing projects at any given time but most help is required in the gardens as well as with housekeeping/cleaning and preparing meals, so we can only take people who are experienced, capable and self-motivated in these three areas:
GARDENING, CLEANING & COOKING (and just being helpful in general)
Of course there might be other things like firewood, painting, etc to help with as well.
We are also always happy to host carpenters, lots of ongoing projects that would be great to have some extra help with, renos, building, etc.

Your days off are usually over the weekend but we're flexible and will send you to the parks during the week when it's less busy; sometimes we'll head out for an adventure but not always, so having a vehicle of your own is ideal, as public transportation is limited to non-existent in our neck of the woods.
It is possible to stay and enjoy Golden without a vehicle as we are on a main bus route from Calgary to Vancouver and you can come with us on town trips and adventures when they happen.

Vegetarian/Vegan- honestly, not the place if you don't eat meat. We eat meat and must do so year round, so we cannot take on vegetarians/vegans. Most of our meat is farmed, fished or hunted locally & ethically, but animal products make up a large part of our everyday cooking.

BEWARE: Golden sits in one of the biggest wetland areas in North America, meaning we have lots of mosquitoes. If you are particularly sensitive to them, we don't recommend staying here.
We are not a business, meaning we do not sell any produce and all help is for our private consumption and use only.

Please reach out to tell why you would be a good fit, as we have limited space and time to host and we pride ourselves in providing a great experience in exchange for your hard work.

If you are ready to help with whatever needs doing, then we're the place for you, with a little piece of adventure thrown in on the weekends to take some time off to explore this iconic part of the world.
We have limited French and Spanish skills and speak English at home.

You will definitely learn a lot about harvesting and preserving the garden when you stay with us and will probably help with canning, freezing, dehydrating, etc.
Or it could be the reverse where you help cook and use up last years preserves.

We do our best to do a few unique things throughout your stay depending on what's available, such as live music, day hike, backcountry drive, or hitting up park hotspots early in the morning to avoid the crowds, among other options.

We've had work-awayers for a few seasons now, but have been hosting friends, family and guests for years and look forward to meeting more good people along the way.

We have limited capacity, so please let us know why you would be a great fit!
