Description
I’m French, and my husband is Italian. We have three sons who are now adults, and only the youngest still lives with us. He is currently in his second year of a PhD program at the University of Brescia. We live in a big house in Cellatica, in the north of Italy near Brescia. I am a ceramicist, and my husband used to teach electronics in high school, but he is now retired.
We love nature, the mountains, lakes, and cycling (we use our bikes a lot!). I love gardening, and we have a large vegetable garden that we share with a few families from our village.
For 26 years, our family has been hosting women in difficult situations (sometimes with children) for both short and long periods. This is a voluntary service we do in collaboration with Caritas of Brescia. At the moment, the house is almost empty: there are "only" four of us living here. There is my quiet French father (94 years old), one of our sons (27 years old), my husband, and myself.
Over the past ten years, we have had many wonderful experiences with Workaway. Both female and male workawayers who are interested in family life, gardening, or cooking are very welcome to find a place among us.
We try to live as a big family, sharing meals, housework, and gardening. We also enjoy doing outdoor activities like cycling or walking, and, of course, sharing the joyful moments of family life! If you speak Italian or French, it will be easier to connect with certain members of the family.
We want you to feel comfortable with the tasks you do, so if you just communicate your preferences to us, we are very flexible.
We are also active members of other hosting networks. Over the years, we have met people from every corner of the world! It has been wonderful.

The volunteer will have his own bedroom. We can be a lot of people at home so the bathrooms are shared.
What else ...
We live in Cellatica, a little village (4500 inhabitants) and it’s easy to reach to Brescia with the bus number 13 (25 minutes to the railway station of Brescia), and you can walk 10 minutes to bus stop easily in a safe village atmosphere. Milan is 1.5 hours away and the lakes are 20-30 minutes away. We have bikes for all too, so that you have the freedom to bike to the bus stop or somewhere else and back on your own schedule. When we have guests, it’s for us an opportunity to visit or do something together sometimes as well. There are the lakes, the mountains, cities like Brescia, Bergamo and even Venice nearby to explore.
The nearest airport is Bergamo or Milan, depending on where you are coming from.
