I had such an amazing two weeks staying with this wonderful multicultural family in Lauterbrunnen! My main task was looking after their adorable 3y/o toddler;) At first you might struggle a little to figure out Skyla's preferences, so having some experience with kids is a big help. But once you get to know her, things get super easy! Skyla is such

The house is located right next to the train station and gondola, which makes getting around super easy. They also have bikes that you can borrow. Gery and Michael both work in tourism, so they had tons of awesome recommendations for things to do around the area. I got to enjoy hiking, cycling, via ferratas, and visiting the Swiss Alps on my days off. Lauterbrunnen itself is also breathtaking, and you have the Swiss Alps right outside of your window.
The family is very well-traveled and multicultural. I really enjoyed all our conversations about their adventures and cultural exchanges. Plus, they’re fantastic cooks! Gery made the most delicious Bulgarian dishes —I was very well-fed here :p
Overall, I had such a great time and honestly wished I could've stayed longer! Lauterbrunnen and this family will always have a special place in my heart❤️

We spent six weeks in Lauterbrunnen, helping our hosts take care of their lively 3-year-old daughter, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. The area is stunning, and we had plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy some truly beautiful hikes. Our hosts also gave us great recommendations for places to visit like Oberhornsee or Männlichen,

Our main responsibility was looking after little Skyla, who was a friendly and sweet child. Like most kids her age, she could be a bit headstrong at times, but we always found ways to manage it and reach an understanding.
In addition to childcare, we also helped with household chores such as cooking, doing the dishes, and vacuuming. We were provided with a comfortable room and bathroom, and the hosts covered all of our food expenses. Having two days off each week allowed us to relax and explore the amazing surroundings.
We felt welcomed during our stay and found that we had some things in common with our hosts, which made it easy to connect. Gery was always calm and approachable, communicative and she handled everything with great patience. It was amazing to work with her and laugh together.
Michael had a different style—he was more direct and could be a bit intense at times, but we understood that he just wanted things to run efficiently. While there were moments of tension, we learned to communicate and work through them, and by the end, we appreciated his dedication to keeping things organized. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
