    Description

Hi, we are Jim (63) and Suzan (54) and we own a house in the Mosel area also known as the winestreet in Germany.
The village we live in is called Traben Trarbach and it is know for its history of wine production. You can learn all about wine here. It used to be the second largest exporter of wine after Bordeaux and has a rich wine trade history. The area is also called little Switzerland because of the beautiful nature and forest. We live just outside the village in a serene green oasis alongside a beautiful stream called the Kautenbach. In our village one of the few of Europe's ayurvedic hotels is located in our street and also the wellness area Mosel Therme is located on walking distance from our house.
If you are looking for a place where you can actually hear your own heartbeat at night and look at the stars without any surrounding light this is the place to be.
Here you can walk into the forest for hours and never see anyone else except the wildlife. We are working on building an herb and vegetable garden to be as self sustainable as possible and we could always use some help. Jim has always and still is working as a business counselor and people manager and has a lot of knowledge of entrepreneurship, international business and logistics and would gladly have conversations about these topics. Jim is also a really good cook and loves to make his own pizza and pasta's. We like to meet people from different places and exchange the way we see all kind of cultures from around the world.

The German area of the Mosel is all about wine and almost every weekend one of the villages has their own weinfest or wineweekend. There are many wine courses and walks across the grapevines. We will gladly take you there to explore.
We would like to hear from you about your country and culture and get to know your outlook on the world.
We love to cook and have good meals and would love to exchange food knowledge while enjoying a nice meal.
Jim always likes to talk business and opportunities and how every country has its own challenges. He can give you a private workshop and answer all your questions.
I love to talk about herbs and gardening and all else that comes to the table.
Both of us traveled a lot and worked abroad in the past and we always find something interesting to talk about.
We also have two great little dogs, two papillon dogs named Bobbie and Messi and surely more pets will join us in the future as we really like dogs and cats.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a private bedroom available for you where one or two people can sleep. We share the bathroom and kitchen.
We are not especially veggie or vegan but you are of course welcome to prepare your own food if ours is not your taste. We can of course take any dietary wishes in consideration. We have a fully functioning kitchen, outside BBQ etc.
If you prefer to camp outside we do have a tent and bedding available for you.
We are not 3 times a day strict time eaters so we do eat of course but are very flexible in our timing.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We like to socialize and we also do like our privacy this is something we hope you keep in mind. We are non smokers but you are free to smoke outside the house with respect to nature. We do not tolerate drugs at the house as the German narcotics laws are very strict, so we ask you kindly not to bring any.
Days off can be spent either doing absolutely nothing and hang out in our garden or terrace or there are many nice villages to visit. You can take wine tours through the vineyards and have a good winetasting. You can rent a kayak on the mosel river or a mountainbike to into the Woods. We are very close to the wellness Centre, Mini golf, leave the house and walk right into the lush forest, visit the Buddha museum, find nice restaurants, find a flea market nearby or come shopping with us. There is a small train station downtown and we gladly give you a ride in town if needed. Every December month there is a very nice Christmas market in the underworld of Traben Trarbach where all the wines used to be stored. This is a beautiful underground market.
Important to know... we are not really morning people haha.
Regarding house rules we do not smoke indoors, outside is no problem.
Because we live so close to the forest we keep it down after dark not to disturb the wildlife, so no loud music.
