    =========
    We are now closed for the quiet season and will not be looking for any volunteers until October 2025
    =========

    We have just finished renovating an abandoned hostel on the beach in M’pai bay, Cambodia and we are now going into our second season and are looking for some friendly and outgoing volunteers to help build up its reputation.
    M’pai bay is a small fishing village on Koh Rong sanleom with lots of character, you can see the bioluminescent plankton at night and there are plenty of long hikes if you love nature.

    Our names are Lauren and Hans and we are 25 & 27 year old, from England. We are both known for loving a good party but also enjoy having time to relax and appreciate the island.
    We are looking for volunteers that understand the balance between the two.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    During your stay on the island, you will learn to appreciate the smaller things in life. You will be meeting people from all over the world every day and socialising with them, helping you learn different languages and experience different cultures that you may not otherwise get to do. The village is very small and you are fully exposed to the typical Khmer lifestyle all the time. You will be spending lots of time with local families and you learn a lot about what it means to be from Cambodia.

    We have just finished our first season being open and it was crazy! We held many events, organised weekly boat parties and hosted over 2360 people in just over 3 months. We didn’t have any full time staff which meant we did almost everything ourselves but this is changing for season 2.

    We now have a full time cleaner and groundkeeper to alleviate the workload on both us and any volunteers. We also have a chef which means we can provide free onsite meals.

    This season we are looking for a variety of roles to be filled, both short-term and long-term.

    Long term:
    - We are looking to create a fun and energetic team to run a variety of weekly events ranging from excursions to pub crawls. It would be great if you had previous experience in this but it is not essential as long as you are confident and happy to get stuck in. You will be working directly alongside Lauren to ensure guests have a memorable and safe time. Ideally, to create the best team possible, we would like you to be able to commit from December 2025 until the end of April 2026 but these dates can be flexible.

    Short term:
    - If you cannot commit to a long term role but you would still like to give us a helping hand, we have a selection of roles for you within the Hostel. Generally the tasks will be broken down into light housekeeping, general maintenance (including painting murals or fixing leaky taps) and customer facing roles. Please reach out and let us know your preference/ any experience you have and we will place you in the most appropriate role.

    We are looking for friendly and outgoing people who are happy to get stuck in. It will be a very satisfying job where you can see exactly what you’ve put into it! We believe in an all hands on deck approach here, so you will never be expected to handle the workload on your own, no matter what role you fill, you will either have Lauren or Hans working alongside you.

    Accommodation types differ depending on the role you take on. Short term volunteers will be provided with their own dorm separate to guests whereas long term staff will be given their own private space.

    What else ...

    Once a month the expats and locals of village throw a big fundraiser and everyone gets involved to help fund beach clean ups, the medical centre and the school. There is also a variety of options to explore the local area such as boat trips, hikes and scuba diving/ snorkelling opportunities.

    There is very limited access to wifi so you will likely need to buy your own SIM Card before coming to the island. We recommend SMART, they have great connection and you can easily top up from your phone without the need to go back to the store.
