    Description

Do you love vast green landscapes with vineyards, rivers, peach and apple trees as much as I do? Then you are in the right place!

My name is Jutta, I am in my 60s and live in a small village with my dog and my mum next door. Sometimes, one of my two daughters also stays with me for some weeks. I also receive friends, so it won't be boring in the house. I know for sure the nicest walks with the best views in this area and you are more than welcome to join us! Even though small, the village has all you need; from a supermarket to a bakery, doctors, a pizzeria and other restaurants. Not to forget all the wineries!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I have traveled a lot and love to connect with people from different cultures. I have been received very nicely in so many countries, that I wanted to give something back by receiving Workawayers in my home. I love my area and would be more than happy to show you around. You are very welcome to join me in some activities or when I go somewhere by car. Be aware that during your stay, it might happen that I will go on a short trip for a few days somewhere where I can't take you so I appreciate workawayers who know to manage themselves.

If you want to learn or improve your German, I will of course help you with that.

In the summer, our village hosts weekly meetups with food, drinks and music where everybody is welcome to join. You can learn about our cultural values, local wine and enhoy the companionship of our village community. The locals or our regions are known for being talkative and open-minded. For example, in a lot of traditional restaurants you will be seated at a table with others if there is space and it is common to make new contacts that way.

Even more, the closest toen Mainz is an international student city with a big university, so expect different cultural events for young people.

Also, I love food and cooking! If you do so, too, I would love to cook something traditional for you and get to know your local cuisine as well.

  • Help

    Help

This project mainly consists of two tasks:

    1. Garden help

    2. Help in the household

    1. If you love to express yourself in our 2 gardens, you are at the right place. While one was a former vegetables garden, the other one is just a regular one with a pond and 2 small huts. The outdoor work is mostly in spring-autumn, whereas in winter or in periods with rain you will work more inside.

The area is too big for me, so I would appreciate some help. I have some projects I would like to realize like rearrangeing the vegetables garden and maybe creating a garden lounge in the other one. The help would include some grass moaning, cutting the bushes, removing unwanted plants, maintaining the pond and if you are up to, preparing the soil to plant whatever you want.

Depending on your skills, maybe also painting some walls and helping me to organize the garage.

    2. The household work consists of organizing the cellar and attic of the house, some basic repair works, light cleaning, laundry.

    ----------------------------------
    ADDITIONAL TASKS

If you like dogs, you might also want to play with my lovely dog or go for a walk with him. I am a very flexible, get easily along with people and I am very open to your suggestions!

Also, if you like cooking, you are more than welcome to share your local dishes (I will get the ingredients).

If you speak German, the tasks can also include creating some descriptions and photos of things I want to sell online.

    -----------------------------------

    WORKING HOURS AND FOOD

Working hours max. 3 per day. Please be aware that the working hours might be much less if for example it rains a lot and we can't work outside. Especially in winter, the hours will probably be less, around 2h per day with 2 days off per week.

As I am a very active person and often outside, I can't provide meals. You are free to use the kitchen and use basic things such as spices, oil, vinegar, tea, sugar and oats. Some days I might also have other things such as rice, pasta or some vegetables for you. When we cook together or you want to share a meal of your country, I will of course buy all ingredients. We have a supermarket in the town where you can get groceries. Some evenings when I am at home, I will cook for both of you. However, please take note that this is not always granted as I cannot guarantee which evenings I will be at home.

    What else ...

The nearest train station is 8mins by car or 25mins by bicycle which you can use whenever you want. The town also has a diverse offer of shops and restaurants.
Germany's biggest river Rhine is boarding the town where you can admire the castles, go for a bike tour or a even a swim in protected areas with low current. And if you miss a big city: Frankfurt is less than 1hr away.

Various times per week, I drive to Mainz or the smaller town with the train station and can take you with me so you can easily enjoy your time. Alternatively, bike and regular bus service from the village are available.
