    Description

We are not looking for helpers. We own and operate a beef cattle ranch with 280 cows. We have some good ranch horses which are used for working the cattle and are available to ride. We are looking for some help on the ranch while providing an opportunity to experience ranch life and culture in Northwestern Saskatchewan. Most of the cattle are out to pasture by the beginning of June. We make about 1,000 acres of hay during the summer months and we have many miles of fence and lots of corrals to upkeep. We provide country living with clean air and wide open space.

    Accommodation

There are two large bedrooms and a bathroom in the basement. Our Ranch is located 20 Km from the city of Meadow Lake population approx. 5,000. We live in a rather sparcely populated area. There is a great deal of boreal forest around us with many creeks and meadows where there is an abundance of wildlife. We are approx. 50 km from the Meadow Lake provincial park where some of the most beautiful lakes in the world are located. In the winter we often ride our sno-machines in the park and in pristine areas where you can ride for hours and not see a trace of civilization. We have a piano and I sing and play guitar and write cowboy poetry;. We have a computer and wireless internet. We have 3 dogs and 5 barn cats that live outside. We also have a mini dashchund and one house cat.

You must be able to understand enough English to take directions as working with cattle and horses and machinery can be dangerous. We will be very happy to help you to learn as much English as possible during your stay with us. You must like animals and not be afraid of them. I am a Veterinary Technician, so if you are interested in Animal husbandry, you could learn a lot here. You must be capable of doing manual labor. We live 20 km from town so you must be able to live in the country. In your spare time, you are welcome to saddle up and explore the area and enjoy the abundant wildlife in nature's backyard. An international Driver's license would be an asset.

    Roxy, Tippie

Roxy is our "little old lady". She is a dashchund and she weighs about 11 pounds. She is a rescue so we don't know exactly how old she is but we estimate at least 15 years old. The photo shows Roxy with our one-eyed cat Lilly.
Tippie is also getting older she is 10 years old now. Tippie is my cattle dog. She is Kelpie/border collie cross. She now lives in the house too.
