  Description

  Hello,
  we are Alex and Christian.
  In 2010 we bought this former farm and live here now with our 4 horses, 4 cats, 6 tortoises and some chickens. The horses however are not available for riding for our guests.
  We grow almost all vegetables we eat in our garden, many of which we also preserve for the winter. We propagate all our own plants and love experimenting with heritage and exotic varieties. In 2024 we also planted a very small food forest and built a glass greenhouse.
  We still have room for many new projects that we need help with.
  
  Every day we cook fresh meals, often with our own produce, however we also eat meat froms farms that meet our expectations of animal welfare.
  Our bread we bake ourselves every one to two weeks.

  Hallo,
  wir sind Alex und Christian.
  In 2010 haben wir einen alten Bauernhof gekauft und leben jetzt hier mit unseren 4 Pferden, 4 Katzen, 6 Schildkröten und diversen Hühnern. Die Pferde stehen allerdings für unsere Gäste nicht zum Reiten verfügbar.
  Gemüsetechnisch sind wir größtenteils Selbstversorger. Vieles von unserem Gemüse konservieren wir auch für den Winter. Wir ziehen alle unsere Gemüsepflanzen selbst und experimentieren gerne mit alten und exotischen Sorten. In 2024 haben wir auch einen mini-foodforest angelegt und ein Glas-Gewächshaus gebaut.
  Wir haben noch viel Raum für neue Projekte, bei denen wir Hilfe benötigen.
  
  Jeden Tag wird hier frisch gekocht, oft mit dem eigenen Gemüse, allerdings essen wir auch Fleisch, bei dem wir sehr auf die Herkunft achten.
  Unser Brot backen wir alle ein bis zwei Wochen selbst.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  We are happy to share our knowledge of gardening, conserving food, baking, cooking and wood craft. In return we are also looking forward to learning more about other cultures.
  For those interested in german culture and history, closeby you will find interesting cities such as Speyer, Heidelberg and Karlsruhe.
  
  Bei uns könnt ihr vieles über das Gärtnern, Konservieren von Lebensmitteln, Backen, Kochen und handwerkliche Arbeiten lernen. Im Gegenzug freuen wir uns auch mehr von anderen Kulturen zu lernen.
  Wer an der deutschen Kultur und Geschichte interessiert ist, der findet in der Umgebung mehrere Interessante Städte wie Speyer, Heidelberg und Karlsruhe.

  Tasks vary throughout the year but may include (also depending on your interests):

  During summer we mainly need help with the garden, in winter, we are looking mostly for people with interests in woodwork and crafts.
  Since we both also have our jobs, we expect from our visitors either flexible helping times or that you are able to help out on your own at times.

  Arbeiten variieren im Laufe des Jahres, aber könnten (auch je nach Interessen) beinhalten:

  Im Sommer suchen wir hauptsächlich Hilfe für die Gartenarbeit, im Winter besonders Leute mit handwerklicher Erfahrung oder Interesse.
  Da wir beide noch berufstätig sind, erwarten wir von unseren Gästen flexible Arbeitszeiten oder, dass sie teilweise eigenständig arbeiten können.

  What else ...

  We live at the edge of the Pfälzerwald (a region of forested hills great for hiking and biking) and close to the Weinstraße, an important german wine region. Also the black forest ist not very far.
  You are welcome to use a bike for tours or for the ride to the train station which is only a few kilometers away.
  
  Wir leben am Rand des Pfälzer Waldes, in der nähe der Weinstraße, einem bedeutendem deutschen Weingebiet. Auch der Schwarzwald ist nicht weit entfernt. Gerne stellen wir euch Fahrräder für Touren oder für die Fahrt zum Bahnhof in wenigen Kilometer Entfernung zur Verfügung.
