    Description

I am Marilyne and I have two boys, Loup is almost 13 and Morel is 7. I speak french as my mother tongue but we speak mostly english at home. I have dogs and and cat.

We live in the forest up a mountain on a land COOP that we share with 6 other people.
It is a very quiet place and we are surrounded by beautiful wild nature. The house is off grid and on solar energy. My hot water is through my wood stove or solar collector.

I am interested in applying permaculture principles to my DYI projects. Come and learn with me!

I am looking to find helpers and new friends that can assist us with refining our home and our life so it is more fun, comfortable and convenient for everyone visiting. It's rustic living up here, although I do have running water, electricity and reliable internet (no cell service). I also want people to share space to learn from them. It is my way of traveling the world at this point, have visitors from different places come visit us.

I do love the simplicity of not having busy distractions around me. The birds are chirping as I am writing this. I do love being here up here in the mountains and close to nature. And I hope you do too.

We are looking for amazing humans to come and spend time with us and participate in doing fun projects ( gardening, building, making food, organizing etc...). We like going swimming and playing sporty games too.
I do have access to a lot of land and I dream to share it with people alike.

I see some kind of retreat forming from this land. I feel the need to be surrounded by people that are wanting to get somewhat away from the busy world to learn about them self and learn about other ways of living on our beautiful planet. I also want people to share space to learn from each other.

I have gathered lots of wood working tools. I like to build things from scratch (cut the tree down and peel it to build an outhouse for example). It all takes time, but is so rewarding especially when we work together as a team.

Come meet us if you want to learn about off grid mountain living, family life and fixing creating things. There is lots of room to camp on the land. Or a motorhome to camp in.

Living off grid is fun and requires a lot of smart thinking on what the next step is going to be. I would love to have more people to share this beautiful way of living on the land. I also simply can't do it on my own very well. ahaha! Together we are stronger

If you want to meet we could chat online or call.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

This is very unique place to live. It is rustic, quiet (when the kids aren't screaming!) and with nature all around. Anyone living here will learn much about DYI projects, wild crafting, food preparation (fermenting veggies, bread making, fermented drinks). There is lots to learn about family life, forestry, gardening, building. This is a great opportunity to learn how to steward the land while applying permaculture principles. It is a great place for personal growth as this is my main priority in life. I like to attend sweat lodges monthly and different types of ceremonies also. The workaway can possibly come along if the interest is there.

    Help

I am looking for fun and independent workaways.

I need builders. I am finishing building a root cellar and renovating my house and would love some help with that.
I am about to fence my garden and could use a hand.

I need gardeners. This year I want to grow lots of food in different gardens around my place. We have a little garden at the house and a community garden as well. I also like to help friends out.

My children are unschooled and we like having new people to hang out with and learn from.

Looking for mechanics. I have a quad that needs love. and a skidoo.

I love if people get involved in making meals

    Other ongoing projects
    Tanning hides...
    Wild crafting, drying herbs
    fire wood

I am very flexible about what the helper does here. I want everyone to feel inspired and choose their own projects because they want to learn more about it or are simply talented and willing. There is so many to choose from.... I like to keep things balanced (work and play)

I also know my community very well and if the work away needs to make money, I could find them jobs here and there... Mowing grass, cutting wood, gardening, carpentry.

    What else ...

I live in a small rural community with very alternative people. There is a couple restaurants and stores. The Slocan river is beautiful and you can swim (people like to float it with little boats). We like to go to Slocan lake, 20 minutes north of Winlaw. There are lots to do here so if you have any questions about the place just message me and I can guide you with information. Nelson and Castlegar town are both 40 minutes away.
My house is way up the road from town (about 10 minutes going up). Biking down is easy but coming up is a chore so driving home is the best way! I can always pick you up from town. I have bikes and a car I don't mind lending to good drivers. We have buses that go to Nelson, Castlegar and Slocan from Winlaw. People hitch hike a lot around here and its a great way to meet people.... We live in a great community come check it out!!
