    What else ...

Visit Isla la Plata: One hour with bus and a boat drive away you find Isla la plata (part of the Machalilla national park). Here you can find birds in the wild like the once you can only see on the Galapagos; The blue-footed boobies, red-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, frigate birds, and occasionally albatrosses. Around the island you can find a coral reef which inhabits Manta-rays, tropical fish and sea turtles. You can also combine visiting the island with whale watching tours.

Visit los Frailes: They say this is the most beautiful beach of Ecuador. It is a crescent shaped beach with rocks on both sides protecting it from the wind. The water is a beautiful shade of blue-ish green and the sand is white. It is a chill place to spend the day, where you can sunbath and go snorkeling or diving. There is also a nice hiking trail to the top of the northern cliff. The cliff has several spots where you can enjoy the view, its also a great spot to watch the whales during whale watching season. (How to get there: Take the green bus to Manta and 12 km north of Puerto Lopez you get off at Las Frailes. The bus doesn’t drive to the beach so from there it is a 2,6 km or 40 minute walk to beach).

Visit Valdivia: The name of the town is after the people that lived here more than 3000 years ago. A lot of artifacts are found here from the ancient civilization. Rent a bike and go through the neighborhood towns on the way here, it's only 14 kilometers away, or take a green bus to Santa Elena that also stops in Valdivia.

Yoga: A perfect way to prepare those aching muscles for another surf, prepare your mind and breath for a dive or simply draw your days to a close. Montanita can offer all.
