The good life - in the country but not isolated in Pleskovec, Croatia

  Description

  Welcome to our world. We are a retired couple and enjoy travel. Being on the border of Slovenia, Hungary and Italy as well as Austria we want to see as much as we can of Croatia and the rest of Europe.
  
  We also recognise that we need help around the property and house. We have 6 dogs of various breeds and sizes and 4 cats. Our property is about an acre in size and full of fruit trees. We also have a swimming pool and plenty of open space. The animals are all very important to us: we would never think of putting them in a kennel.
  
  We are looking for individuals or a couple/family that are animal friendly but also enjoy country life and all that entails. This area of northern Croatia is stunning. There will be times when the workaway requirements are minimal and are dog and cat and house sitting with light labour while we travel and other times when we are here when help around the house and garden/orchard is needed.
  
  We are easy going and flexible. We are happy to have small families, single people or couples. We prefer non-smokers only because we are trying not to smoke ourselves!

  Croatia is a wonderful country. The area in which we live is vibrant with culture and historical significance. It’s wine country and we have some great vintners in the area. Čakovec is our closest large town and the shopping there superb. Lovely cafes, and restaurants and everything reasonably priced.
  
  There is plenty to do, places to go and much to assimilate. Once we have agreed and committed we will do all we can to ensure you have a wonderful and enriching experience. Oh and lots of cuddles and plenty of attention.

  Help

  The main requirement for us is house, grounds and animal care. The requirements of the workaway stay will depend on wether we are travelling.
  
  We have ten super friendly animals. All are well socialised dogs and cats. They all of get a lot of TLC. They are very special to us and we would want committed, pet friendly people. Our six dogs are: Marley, a Lab in every sense of the word, except he hates the water! He is a rescue as are Bonnie, Tornak mix. Bono, terrier mix, a lovely old boy, still full of spunk at 13 and Betty a Tibetan Spaniel who came from a loving home but they could not care for her anymore she is 10. Lucy, our 2nd youngest at just over a year. A Tornak mix (at least we think so), but so affectionate and loves to talk. Last but not least Blu our goofy Dalmation, now 18 months old, with one blue eye - hence the name. Our cats: Jasper is the eldest cat at 5 and two other rescues Snowey and Mickey; about 3 years old. Our latest and last addition, Scruffy an adorable abandoned kitten which we got at 10 days old. Now at almost 6 months old he is full of spunk and mischievous. Again all rescues, all with great and different personalities.
  
  All eat and sleep well. They are all sterilised, microchipped and fully vaccinated. For our own convenience we have created a fenced area for the bigger dogs. This means they have plenty of room to play and we get to have a bit of our own space and some flowers. However, we try and keep them all with us as much as possible.
  
  We have about an acre of land much of which is an orchard and as mentioned fully fenced. The grounds need constant maintenance and there are always projects in the house. When we are in residence we will draw up a daily work plan and fully explain everything that is needed. There are about 20 apple trees of different varieties, fig, cherry, pear and peach and chestnut and walnut trees too. Depending on the time of year you could be doing grounds landscaping, gardening or fruit picking and prepping for the winter. We also need help in the house with cleaning, painting, freshening up etc.
  
  When we travel it will never be for more than two or three weeks. Most trips will be usually for 7-10 days.
  
  We prefer to get to know our workaways with a series of SKYPE/FB Messenger or Zoom calls.

  Accommodation

  Your accommodation is the whole upper floor of our house. It is a lovely and bright very large bedroom with a separate seating area with Netflix and a full bathroom; all open plan. There is a large double bed and also a single bed. We also have 2 bed height very comfortable inflatable mattresses if needed. The room is large enough to create separate spaces if required. You also have complete access to our kitchen and the rest of the house including the pool, the pool table on the terrace and the garden.
  
  We will take you shopping so you can stock up. There is cable TV, Netflix etc. on the living room level. The internet is fast and good.
  
  If we are travelling we will make provision for you, contact numbers in case of emergency etc. Most of our travelling will be in Europe so in case of real need we can come home easily.
  
  There are three local restaurants two that deliver pizza and the best calamari if you want to treat yourselves. Two offer entertainment from time to time.
  
  The property is fully fenced so the dogs and cats basically have free rein. Daily walks are not necessary as they get plenty of exercise running around. Under supervision they will be allowed to use the pool as it is dog friendly. The pool is open from Mid May until the end of September and then fully winterised. Under no circumstances can the dogs leave the property.
  
  Sadly, because of Croatian law we are unable to let you use our car, so if you feel you need transport you will have to hire your own. There is a convenience store about a 15min. walk from the house and regular bus service to Cakovec the largest town. The village of Pleskovec has the basics but it’s a good walk. There is not a lot of night life around here but plenty of walking and hiking. So your evenings are for relaxing, swimming and chilling and playing pool.
  
  We do not supply alcoholic beverages.

  What else ...

  There is good bus service from Zagreb to Varazdin or Cakovec the two largest cities north east of Zagreb. Zagreb airport is the closest. There is also a train to the area, but it takes forever.

  Space for parking camper vans

  There are Bathroom/shower facilities are available on the living room level. There is large bedroom with a full bathroom on the 2nd floor. Electricity hook-up is not a problem and access to fresh water is easy. Disposal of grey and waste water is also available. Washing machine and dryer on the ground floor. We would want to discuss size etc.

  Can possibly accept pets

  As we have so many one more would not be a bother. Again we would want to discuss. The dog/cat must be neutered or spayed and be up to date with all vaccinations. Additionally, they should be well socialsed. They should have their own pet passport. We have an excellent vet should the need arise.
