    Description

We are a family of two (one adults my 1.5-year-old son). I’ve worked away from home, lived in multiple countries, so I’ve come to enjoy meeting new people, sharing experiences, and hearing about others’ adventures. In my youth, I volunteered and lived with a family in Eastern Europe, so I understand how this experience can really enrich a young person’s life and how meaningful it is to be part of someone’s home. Our house is calm but fun. We like music, candles, random dance parties between mum and toddler and getting outdoors as much as possible. With young kids often around, this isn’t a party house, but more of a serene homey space within the vibrant city of Toronto.

Seaton Village is the home of Toronto’s Koreatown retail corridor. This vibrant shopping area is highlighted by a number of Korean restaurants, Karaoke bars, and Korean food and gift shops. The Bloor Street shopping area east of Bathurst Street is brimming with trendy restaurants, cafes and nightclubs that attract students from the nearby University of Toronto, as well as a diverse mix of people from all over the city. The Bathurst Street shopping area has more of a quieter, residential tone than Bloor Street. It includes small cafes, and professional offices and stores that are geared towards the local home-owners. The Dupont and Christie intersection is anchored by a large national grocery store chain. Summerhill Market on Bathurst street is a popular specialty grocery store. There’s lots of fun parks in walking distance like Christie Pits and Vermont Square.

We are looking for a workawayer to help get my 1.5 year old to daycare in the mornings, drop off times very between 8am to 9am. Then pick him up at 4pm. Three times a week, you’ll be asked to do 1-2hrs of cooking from online recipes whilst he is at daycare. Every evening you’ll load the dishwasher and wipe down the kitchen / vacuum and in the mornings unload the dishwasher. There is a requirement to always tidy up after yourself and do your own laundry, as a cleaner only comes to the house once a week - she will also clean your room and bathroom. If my son is sick and needs to stay home from daycare, I may ask for a 2hrs babysitting and watching him as he plays or watches kid’s tv, while I do some work online, but this would be occasional and only on event of him being home due to a cold.

The ideal candidate would use our house as a home base, but not expect their entertainment experience to be centered around us. We encourage you to meet people through apps, meetups, park, coffee shops etc... to make this experience fun for you, too!

Public transport is easy and accessible, and we do live in a very walkable neighborhood. Two subway stations are less than 5min walk away. We have two excellent coffee shops less than 100m from the house.

You’ll have a dedicated workspace in your room, this is the only space you can use for work and calls. We don’t encourage work calls or laptop usage in common areas. Daycare drop off is daily between 8-9am and pick up at 4pm, so your work schedule would need to accommodate your focus on this. Additionally, the cooking requirements 3x a week would also need to be accommodated in your work schedule.
