Hi we're Scott and Linda. We retired to Costa Rica 9 years ago. Scott had built hi-rises in Vancouver for many years and we felt it was time to build our own house. We fell in love with Costa Rica 10 years before our move and always had to come back. Anyone interested in building will benefit from Scott's knowledge, ethic and leadership.
Linda is artsy craftsy, sewer, painter and the general idea person.
Although we are excited to have the work completed we are also looking forward to meeting new friends and have fun doing it.
We're a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk from one of the most beautiful beaches you'll ever see. Although we are English speaking our Spanglish is constantly improving and we do get by. We are quite knowledgeable of this tropical oasis and would like to share that with others.
We have a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom house all surrounded by tropical plantings; palms and bananas and many many more.
If you like tropical surroundings and tropical climate you will love it here.
We hosted international students when we lived in B.C. and are very interested in trying this type of Homestay!
We have 2 cats and we are all non-smokers.
Help around the house
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
We moved from Canada to Playa Carrillo, Costa Rica 5 years ago and built a house. We're a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk from one of the most beautiful beaches you'll ever see. Although we are English speaking our Spanglish is constantly improving and we do get by. We are quite knowledgeable of this tropical oasis and would like to share that with others.
In our nieghboring town of Samara you'll find a very good Language School where people come to from around the globe. There's also a Massage Therapy School as well as a Natural Centre for exercise, yoga and an organic market. There are also many options for Surf lessons.
In Carrillo you can also find Yoga, Surf lessons and Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boarding.
The usual tourist tours are also available including Zip Lines, Kayaking, Snorkeling, Quad Rentals, Turtle Nesting the list continues...and the one and probably the best free attraction is that you will see monkeys!
Small projects on the property, landscaping etc.
We can also use help with general yard maintenance.
The help should be done in the morning to beat the heat of the day.
We can offer 2 twin beds and a private bathroom. The photo shows a queen bed which is unavailable at this time.
Accommodation also includes a 'make yourself' breakfast with a couple of lunches and dinners throughout the week.
We can also provide condiments and other staple items to make your own creations.
There is a local bus service 100m from our house which will take you to Samara and beyond to Nicoya where you can link up with buses to further destinations. There's also a direct bus service to San Jose.
If you're looking for a little night life then Samara is the place to go and is 15-20 minutes North. Carrillo is a sleepy little town at the best of times with only a handful of restaurant options...but our beach is awesome!
