  • Description

We are looking for both short and long term help. Currently we have some infrastructure and building projects on the farm so if you have experience as a carpenter or with any trade that would be ideal! But its not mandatory for you to have this skill set. All we want is individuals that have a desire to learn about farming. Our farm consists of a market garden and a flock of free range layer chickens for food and a cannabis garden for medicine. We attend 2 local farmer markets weekly on the island. We believe in organic farming practices and we grow everything organically. Our operation is very versatile and there's much to learn and gain from your farming experience here. We ask our Workaway guests for 5 hrs of help a day 5 days a week. During your visit we strongly recommend you explore the surrounding community and the natural beauty the island has to offer. In exchange for your help we provide healthy farm fresh food, farming education and accommodation.

We look forward to sharing our tiny little island paradise with fellow Workawayers!

Side note: We're currently looking for someone to help prepare a perennial berry patch of a few berry varieties. We also need help planning and preparing an area for fruit trees. So anyone with knowledge and experience in these areas would be hugely welcomed!

Travelers will be immersed in an island lifestyle. Saltspring has a rich farming community and much to offer to travelers looking for a place with natural beauty and a warm friendly community. Their time working on the farm will be spent learning all about the crops we grow, greenhouse growing, pruning, harvesting, planting and everything that goes along with having a market garden. Travelers will also get to spend time around our animals and learn about animal husbandry.

  • Help

We need help in our market garden. Some of the tasks on the farm include: weeding, watering, seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and going farmer's markets. We also can use help with daily animal chores such as cleaning, feeding and general animal husbandry. No farming experience is necessary, just an interest in farming and desire to learn! We take turns with chores or try to accommodate preferences.
