Description
Have you ever wanted to visit San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas and get an authentic cultural experience? Then this is the organization for you! We are an organization that specializes in various activities across San Cristóbal de Las Casas. We are looking for positive, energetic, and outgoing volunteers to join us in helping low income families across the region. Our most popular program is our English teaching program, which aims to help locals practice their English speaking and writing skills. Although not a requirement, we do prefer native English speakers, as this presents the locals with a better opportunity to practice their conversational skills. Do you have other skills to share with the people? Our newest project aims to teach and expose the locals to many forms of art, such as music, visual arts, theatre, dancing, graffiti, etc. So if you’re a natural born creative, and have experience in the following areas, feel free to apply… all we need is a positive attitude and willingness to help in the projects described below.

Help
For the period Sep-Dec you are expected to stay 4 months since our program follows the local school year calendar.
The program is semester based, running from the last week of August to the second week of December and starting up again around the second week of January and ending the first week of July.
Teaching English
Lessons take place in two different cities. We have lessons during the week in San Cristóbal de Las Casas and weekend lessons (usually Saturdays) in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, which is only 40 minutes away. We will show you how to travel between the two cities and cover all transportation expenses. However, we do ask that you complete at least 15 hours of volunteer work per week. We can accommodate a schedule prior to your arrival.
Teaching Arts
If you are talented in Art, you will be expected to teach some hours of Arts in an afternoon school for kids, lessons take place during the week in San Cristóbal. You will be also required to help with conversation clubs on Saturdays in Tuxtla Gutiérrez. In total you will be expected to complete 15 hours of volunteer per week and we can also arrange schedule prior arrival.Languages
