  • Description

    Description

We are a couple in our fifties living rurally outside Alta, northern Norway. Gøril is a retired languages teacher, and Ove a retired farmer.

We live in a logg house with 6000m2 land that we are looking to develop further. So far we have chickens, bunnies, two dogs and a kitchen garden with a pond. The house is situated by the sea, overlooking the fjord, and Alta. Right behind us the mountains.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We both have very welcoming families, and would include guests in as many activities as possible/natural in the situation, such as family dinners, outings, hiking, fishing and so on. We both love to learn new skills and teach what we know to others.

Gøril is interested in languages and cultures, gardening, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She also wants to learn more about the nature around us, picking berries, mushrooms, herbs and so on.

Ove loves tinkering with machinery and building things. He has a tractor, 4-wheeler, snowmobile and more tools than he needs. He hunts, and fishes both in the fjord, rivers and the mountain lakes.

We both try to get out as much as possible. Biking and hiking, boating in the summer, skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. We would love to harvest more from the abundance around us.

Anyone visiting us, will be welcomed to take part in these activities, to share experiences, techniques and skills.
