Description
We are a family (Mum, Dad, a 7 year old and a 1.5 year old baby).
We are Irish speakers who play traditional music, are nature lovers and live in the countryside. I'm an archaeologist with a visual arts background and Rob works for a nature restoration organisation. We also have a small organic vegetable farm and live near the sea. We love travelling ourselves and have happily hosted international volunteers for the last 4 summers and are very happy to host folks from all places.
The house is a rented farmhouse very close to Ballinspittle (take a look on Google maps). Its a 15 minute drive to the seaside town of Kinsale with shops, cafes, galleries, pubs, library and public buses to Cork city (1 hrs by bus) or beautiful west Cork in the opposite direction. We have happily hosted over 10 volunteers over the last 4 years and structure the week so that volunteers have fri/ sat and sun to relax/ explore.
We are looking for someone (preferably female, though open on that) to help with our children and a bit of help with house-work. We have hosted volunteers before and love when people come and join our family. Childcare work will be 25hrs per week while we work from home office (so you won't be alone in the house with the children).
Because the volunteer would be primarily looking after a really fab and smiley toddler we'd prefer stays of at least 2 months to establish a nice connection with him. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are traditional music players and like to sing Georgian polyphonic music!
We are also very close to several beaches and we ourselves enjoy sea-swimming/ paddleboarding .
We speak English and are native Irish language speakers and are interested in learning more languages (we have basic French, German and Spainish). We love having foreign people to stay!
We have been growing organic vegetables for years and are enthusiastic cooks and would be delighted to share our love of good food. -

Help
We are seeking someone to join our family and primarily help with childminding (a 18 month old and a 7 year old for 25 hours a week (9-5.30 mondays/ ,wed and thurs with a half day paid on a Tuesday). We work from home so you wont be home alone with the children.
We ideally need someone who is happy to stay for at least 2 months or longer to help settle in.
We are looking for someone that would genuinely love minding a toddler and a 7 year old. This is the most important thing! Our eldest child is 7, good natured and fun and loves playful people. We are looking for people who are kind, patient and happy to live with children. Because routine is important for children we will need someone who is happy to stay a minimum of 2 months (or longer if desired!)
You will have the privacy of your own space/room of course for when you need your own time to relax
The 25hrs of help a week is essential in the arrangement but with some notice (because this would involve agreement with mum's employer) there can be some flexibility to accommodate your own plans. -

Meals are included, the fridge will be stocked to help yourself to for lunch and breakfast, evening meals. You will be very welcome to join us for all meals and if your insterested and enjoy cooking and sharing recipes we would welcome this help and your ideas!

What else ...
Own transport is a benefit but not necessary. If you like to cycle the village of Ballinspittle is a 10 mins cycle and beaches are within 30mins (though remember Ireland can be wet!).
