    Description

We are a warm and active family of four — Giacomo, Lucia, and our two daughters, Rebecca (10) and Giulia (6).
We live in Bologna, a lively and cultural city in northern Italy, right at the foot of the beautiful San Luca hill.

Rebecca and Giulia attend primary school and bring lots of energy and joy to our home. Giacomo works for a software company in the university field, while Lucia is a building engineer and architect.

As a family we love sports and the outdoors: Giacomo plays basketball and tennis, Lucia enjoys hiking up to San Luca and doing TRX, and the girls take dance lessons. In the winter we often go to our mountain house for skiing, and in the summer the kids love horseback riding. We also like visiting Ravenna, where Lucia’s mum lives.

We are passionate about traveling, good food, and spending time with friends. We would be happy to welcome Workawayers who want to experience family life in Bologna and share culture, language, and good moments with us!

By staying with us, you will experience daily life in Bologna, a beautiful medieval Italian city with a lively cultural atmosphere. Bologna is home to the world’s oldest university, the Alma Mater Studiorum, and is also famous for its outstanding food culture — from fresh pasta to regional wines.

The area is rich in tradition and innovation: Emilia-Romagna is known as the “Motor Valley”, with legendary brands such as Ducati, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Maserati (Modena).

With us, you will be part of an Italian family and can practice the language in everyday situations. Both Giacomo and Lucia speak good English, and we enjoy exchanging ideas about travel, sports, food, and culture. We are curious and open-minded, so there will be plenty of opportunities to learn from each other.

    Help Required
Lucia and I work full-time (from 8:30 to 18:30), so we are mainly looking for someone who can help us take care of Giulia and Rebecca after school (16:30).

We would love to host an au pair–style Workawayer who speaks English (and maybe a little Italian — beginner/intermediate is fine!).

We imagine a talkative, outgoing person who enjoys spending time with children, laughing and chatting with us at the dinner table, and maybe joining us on trips if you’d like.

It would be great if you are also tidy and responsible, and don’t mind giving a hand with some light household tasks such as vacuuming, wiping surfaces, or helping to keep things organized.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Bologna is in a strategic location for exploring Italy. From here you can easily travel by train:
    - Florence in just 35 minutes
    - Milan in 1 hour
    - Venice in about 2 hours

You can also reach the seaside (Ravenna) or the Apennine mountains (Sestola) in about 1 hour.

In your free time, you can discover Bologna’s charming medieval streets, lively piazzas, and famous porticoes (a UNESCO World Heritage site). The city is also full of student life, cultural events, museums, and of course delicious food markets and trattorias.

Public transport is well connected — buses run frequently into the city center, and Bologna’s train station is one of the main hubs in Italy, making weekend trips very easy.
