Description
Welcome to our little corner of the world — not just a home, but a place to slow down, connect, and feel part of something real.
We’re a small, open-hearted family of three: me, my husband Joe, and our one-year-old son Charlie. Life with us is a mix of laughter, chaos, tea, and everyday adventures. We’re easygoing, curious, a bit alternative, and we love meeting people from different walks of life.
We live in the beautiful Beskydy Mountains, in the Moravian-Silesian Region — one of the Czech Republic’s hidden gems. Think rolling green hills, deep forests, wooden cottages, and peaceful trails that seem to go on forever.
This is the kind of place where you can:
- wake up to misty sunrises over the hills
- spend your day hiking or biking straight from the doorstep
- cool off in natural swimming spots in summer
- and end the evening watching the sunset with a beer or tea in hand
Czech culture here is grounded, and real. Nature is part of daily life, and there’s a quiet rhythm that helps you breathe a bit deeper. We love sharing local food, traditions, and the slower way of living that comes with this region. But we also love to go around the country in summer, being parts of different events, like spiritual festivals, camping with friends, etc.
We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just want a place to stay, but wants to experience life with us — to share meals, conversations, maybe a few laughs over a slightly chaotic toddler moment, and become part of our everyday story.
If you’re open-minded, kind, and enjoy a mix of nature, family life, and meaningful connection, you’ll fit right in.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
For us, hosting isn’t just about help — it’s about connection, shared experiences, and learning from each other in a real and natural way. I have done Couchsurfing for years and I am hoping to have at least similar experience with Workaway.
Life here is quite social in a simple, local way. We spend time outdoors, meet friends and neighbours, go for walks and hikes in the Beskydy Mountains, or have relaxed evenings with food, music, or a shish (hookah). Depending on the time of year, there are also local markets, small festivals, and community events in the Moravian-Silesian Region that we’d love to take you to.
During summer you can even attend big festivals like the Colors of Ostrava or Beats for Love, or if it is to your liking, you can join us on more spiritual events, like the Healing Festival or Inlakesh Festival.
We are very active, even though now we do have to adapt our activities to life with a baby, we still do a lot of things we love – hiking, sunrise and sunset watching, tea ceremonies, bbq with friends, themed parties, summer bonfires, djembe jams, cold dipping and etc.
We’re happy to share:
- Czech culture in a real, everyday way — food, traditions, and local life
- Our love for nature, slow living, and finding joy in simple things
- Family life with a young child (the fun, the chaos, and everything in between!)
- Cooking together, exchanging recipes, and trying new flavours
- Language — whether it’s English, Czech, or a mix of everything
- Knowledge - of everything that we know and might interest you - my husband works in the IT, I do online marketing. We both invest in real estate, love deep talks, tea, hookah. I know bit of sewing and love everything creative.
At the same time, we’re just as excited to learn from you.
We love hearing different perspectives, stories, and ways of living. Whether it’s your culture, your food, your music, your language, or just how you see the world — we’re genuinely curious and open. We hope to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable being themselves and sharing a piece of who they are.

Help
We’re looking for someone kind, open-minded, and easy to be around — someone who’s happy to blend into family life. Someone who loves kids is a MUST, everything else is nice to have.
We would love you to help around 4–5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, but not a day is same with us, so there is always a space for you to take some time off and wander around the country.
We would need help mainly with:
- playing and spending time with Charlie
- light household tasks (tidying, simple cleaning, maybe cooking together)
- going on trips together (and help with Charlie there)
What is important for us?
- A positive attitude and willingness to be part of daily life
- Respect for our home, routines, and family space
- Good communication — we’re very relaxed, but we appreciate honesty
You don’t need to be perfect or super experienced — just present, caring, and willing to help where needed
We’re not a formal household and we don’t expect formality from you either. Some days are structured, others are spontaneous. Sometimes we’ll go on a little trip, sometimes we’ll just have a slow day at home — and you’re always welcome to join.
For us, this is about cultural exchange, shared moments, and creating a positive experience for everyone.

Accommodation
You would be staying in our apartment with us.
We live in a fairly big apartment with a terrace with an amazing view. You would have one of our rooms that you could freely use.
The room has a table and a big sofa bed (160 cm) and you can enter the terrace from it. The bathroom and kitchen is shared as well as living room.
We would love to share our meals with you. We usually eat 3 meals per day with some light snacks in between. We eat bit of everything, mix of vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes but we can talk about your needs too. It would be desirable if you would like to participate and also help with the cooking.
What else ...
If you have a driving licence and feel good driving here, we can talk about letting you use our car once in a while if we don't need it, otherwise we are more than happy to always take you to a bus or train station.
We are very easy going and believe that most things are possible if communicated well, but we have two rules that are non negotiable in the house - NO SMOKERS and NO DRUNKARDS. You can enjoy glass of wine, but drunks are not tolerated in our household as well as the smell of cigarettes.
