Description
Hello,
I would really appreaciate your help right now and I am glad if are interested!
Just first of all I have to warn you: The winter on our farm is really tough and unconvenient - so it's only for really sturdy "down to earth" persons.
There is more huge projects going on where i would appreaciet urgent help. And if you are on the same wavelength I think your stay can be extraordinery experience for all of us despite the living conditions.
Urgent projects since february 2025
Help with wood constructions
Preparing apitherapy house (room)
Charcoal making - burning branches from pruning
General organising the toolrooms and barns with all its belongings.
My name is Karel and the main part of my time I spend on our homestead in Paseka where also my father lives.
I also have to spend some time in Olomouc, bigger historical city (it is approx. 30 kms far away) where I help with taking care of my grandfather and where also my girlfriend Rebeka lives. She sometimes comes to Paseka to help a little bit but she works full time in Olomouc.
If you are insterested you could come to visit Olomouc with me.
For long time I was volunteering on the permaculture projects in Spain, where I decided I would like to host volunteers on my farm one day as well.
Few months in a year, during summertime, I work abroad to make some extra many for advancing my farming projects which aren't profitable at the moment.
My father has already his age and he is very special, doing everything in his very special way. He is master in agriculture and he has really impressive knowledge which he likes to share. He can provide you the real cultural exchange. He speaks fluent russian and passive english, but i think quite good level, just slow.
The homestead is situated in small village called Paseka, on the borders of Jeseniky mountains with forests and meadows on one side, and rich flatland called Haná region with fields on the other side. Even if we are surrounded by neigbours, our land is so extended and rugged you can easily feel privacy like in a hermitage.
As part of sudeten region the farm was build and inhabited by czech germans.
Just after the end of war sudetten were repopulated by czechs and thats how my great-grandfather gain our farm. A few years later our family lost control over the farm because of socialistic colectivisation and no one from family have never come back to farming even if we have got back the estates with the velvet revolution.
Today we just take care of the garden and collection orchard belonging to homestead (not the whole land as it used to be), anyway its around one hectar and it's still really hard job.
We take care of our land as ecological as possible to keep and even rise natural biodiversity. We are preserving local fruit tree varieties. Inn total we have over 150 kinds. Thanks to that there is always something to harvest since begining of may for whole rest of the season - even until a new year! P

There are so many various tasks so I believe everyone interested in alternative living and farming can find some task which will really fit to him. (Of course sometimes are tasks which have to be done asap, e.g. main harvest)
Just I need from you some level of selfmotivation and selforganisation for beeing really helpfull for the project.
General tasks around the year.
- harvestimg plums, pears, apples, and other fruits.
- making typical czech plum jam "povidla", apple juice and cider
- race poultry breeding
- if you are interested in beekeeping and woodcraft you could always help me with making new bee frames and boxes (I have approx. 50 hives)
- honey and wax extracting
- feeding and regular maintenance around poultry.
- gardening - there is always some watering, weeding, fruit picking, ...
- works in an orchard - grass cutting and hay drying, schredding branches, charcoal making, fencingLanguages

My english is fluent, however I make some grammar and pronounciation mistakes.Accommodation
One separated room. There is possibility to fit 2 beds if you come as a couple or friends.
Currently my father arranges the meals on his own. We are omnivours, my father is quite addicted on meaty diet but both of us enjoy vegetarian diet as well.
If you are vegetarian or you would have just different dietery needs, we can try to find compromise or we can cook together if you like (once the summer kitchen is done, it'll be much easier).
Whole season we have abundance of our own veggies, fruits, wild plants and eggs.
Just the breakfast can be individual, our larder is always opened for you. What else ...
There are another workaway hosts in the village, the young family, so there is easy way to meet with other workawayers. In hot summer you can go to natural swimming pool. The forests are perfect for hiking, berry picking and hunting mushrooms what is legal and very popular in Czechia. On the hike you can visit Sovinec castle and arboretum "Makču Pikču" created from old stone mine. You can also go with me visit Olomouc, with beautiful historical old town, where you can also enjoy all the opportunities of the city.
