Description
My name is Raphael, I was born in Germany and raised in Florida (USA), father of two intelligent and beautiful children who both love helping around the farm with different tasks. For the past 14 years, I have been a permanent resident of the beautiful island of Mallorca, Spain. In 2019, along with my cousin, I bought a large property on the south-east coast of Mallorca where we have been working to transform it into an agricultural paradise. Instead of covering the whole field with one crop to harvest, we decided to take the more complicated (but hopefully more rewarding) route and started cultivating different varieties of plants, fruits, vegetables, herbs...we also a few animals for the balance of the farm. So far we have a field of moringa, a field with different fruit trees from citric to cherry trees, olive trees and a handful of chickens and ducks, which do a great job of keeping the fields clean and well fertilized :-) . Everything we do here is in accordance with organic agriculture and I am always interested in finding sustainable solutions before trying to save money or time.
The design of the property is also very interesting to see from an aerial view because nothing seems to be planted "straight", but rather in long curvy rows of trees. To avoid letting the rain water run off to the bottom of the field, we implemented "key lines" where the water stays and slowly infiltrates into the soil. So basically all the trees in one line, are on the same level of latitude, creating a very interesting image when seeing it from above while at the same time allowing the field to benefit much more from the few rain showers that we experience here in Mallorca.
The property is in a very quiet area without traffic or airplanes passing close. The views of the natural surroundings are spectacular and at night one can see all of the stars without any light pollution nearby. When you come to visit, I am sure you won't want to leave. :-)Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are only 15 minutes away from some of the most beautiful beaches the island has to offer. Just a quick visit into town is a delight for senses with the mallorcan villages being so rich in history and culture.
On the property we have a large fire pit and a barbecue area where you will be welcome to spend your free time as you please. If you would like some time for yourself, there are so many areas where you can just "disappear" between the trees to hang a hammock, meditate, practice yoga or just read a book with nothing more than the sound of the birds chirping.
I really hope to learn sustainable farming techniques, DIY solutions and bio-construction... and of course to make some new friends with whom to share.Projects involving children

Help
I would love to find some Workawayers to help with the care of the existing plants and trees and also to help create and manage the production of fresh vegetables and fruits. The vegetable garden is thought to be done in high beds, which have been constructed already but still need to be filled and planted. From the green house, which is right next to the high beds, we will plant our own seeds to later transplant in the high beds.
In September/October we will need help harvesting the olives and pressing them to create olive oil. Around the same time there will also be different harvests that require help from Workawayers such as carob trees, almonds, moringa, etc...
The Workawayer needs to be kind, hard working and have a positive pro-active attitude. Experience and plenty of interest in plants and sustainable solutions is desirable. If you love nature and interacting with her, we might be a good fit :-)Languages
