Covid-19 update: we now have an enhanced health safety system in place, that includes testing for all volunteers on arrival. Anyone testing positive will be required to quarantine on site until they test negative, but may be able to participate in outside activities that do not require social contact.
We are a small community building an eco village, with our donkeys, goats, horse, chickens, dogs and cats. We started our journey building a self reliant homestead on 4500 m sq of land, four years ago. Since then we have had many wonderful experiences and even learned a few things. We received a lot of questions about what it takes to live in a self-reliant way, and decided to create an eco village with educational programs, demonstration and teaching areas, and housing for other families, guests and volunteers, to help others learn to live in a low impact, sustainable way. We are concerned that peoples’ options in life are becoming increasingly dependent on institutions such as governments, banks, food stores and other corporations that may not act in the best interests of people, and of the natural environment. Access to healthy food and housing should not be based on money transactions. It is our mission to continue researching and sharing the best methods, systems, and skills to empower people to build their own communities, on their own terms, in control of their own sustainable resources. Within the next year we plan to have 1-2 more families join us full time.
We request a video meeting with everyone applying to volunteer. To apply please message us with the following information:
1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your trip. We want to get to know the people who will join our community.
2. What interests you about volunteering at an eco village?
3. How long are you looking to volunteer for? (minimum 3 weeks)
4. Are you willing to allow us to run a criminal background check on you? If it will show anything, please tell us upfront, we understand some crimes are from mistakes, or are political, and that people can mchange. We may still be willing to host you, we just want to know beforehand.
5. your phone number on whatsapp or telegram, so we can send you our volunteer information sheet
6.we take volunteer video calls at 1:00pm and 7:30pm Turkish time, (GMT+3). Please tell us a date and time that works for you.

We are all about hands-on, experiential learning here. You'll learn the basic skills and methods we use here at the eco village, by doing them yourself. Additionally, theory based seminars and discussions are periodically offered during non-work hours, covering topics relevant to the work we do here, such as planning a self reliant homestead, and managing off grid water and power systems.
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
No experience needed, you'll learn everything here that you need to contribute! Every work day you'll be involved with a variety of tasks that could include planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, food processing and preserving, feeding, grooming, and giving medicine to animals, welding, painting, carpentry, electrical wiring, fence building, sewing, carding wool, gourd carving, soap making, tile mosaic work, maintenance, landscaping and much more.

We provide volunteers with a variety of accommodations, including a bed in a shared dormitory, a private room in a house, a caravan, or a tent, depending on what is available when they arrive. Volunteers can also bring their own caravans, as long as we plan ahead to keep space available.
Turkey is full of wonderful places and experiences, and we are lucky to have many near the eco village. We organize one or more non-work related group activities each week that could include swimming in the river, hiking to the 3500 year-old ancient city and rock tombs of Kaunos, a boat trip to the famous Iztuzu beach on the Mediterranean, where sea turtles nest, soaking in natural hot springs, and move or game night.
