Description
We live on a 7 acre hobby farm, located east of Okotoks, 15 minutes south of Calgary. We have vegetable gardens, horses, pigs, chickens, two cats and a dog. We are a small family farm and the majority of your day will be spent outside - tending/weeding the vegetable gardens, mowing the lawn, tending to fences and animal care such as feeding and cleaning pens. I appreciate help preparing meals and cleaning up as necessary. We also have a few DIY projects, like painting that we would love some help with. My husband and I work for the same company just five minutes from our home. While we are at work, you would be on your own from about 730am - 530pm. We have two children, aged 9 and 6 so our helpers must like kids. We are an active family with plenty of projects always needing to be done.
We are looking for someone who is independent, self sufficient and doesn’t mind being alone. We have a few summer trips planned and would love to have someone to house / pet sit while we are away. There is no public transit from our home, but we would be happy to help you explore the area when we can.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We enjoy teaching and showing our guests about our way of life, it is also fun for us to learn about different ways of living. We can share what we know about Canadian education, politics, food, religion & pretty much anything else that interests you. We are close to mountains, rivers and many hiking trails and there are lots of farmers markets around the area.

It's the first workaway where we felt part of the family. We shared some great times. We met their friends and families, the atmosphere was very extended. We enjoyed their delicious dishes. Mike is the king of barbecue!
