  • Description

    Description

The place is an extended-family-owned property. Consists of farmland, forest and a couple of 18-century traditional houses is a sort of "Bullerby" setting some kilometers away from local villages. We use it for recreation, solitude and make an effort to preserve museum-level items to remind about how life was some century ago.

As all of us normally have "white collar" jobs elsewhere so we use the place to engage in practical work and to develop our practical skills in various crafts like gardening, forestry, carpentry while renovating the properties with respect for the original construction.

Most of us speak Swedish so this is an opportunity to practice that language if you wish. All of us also speak English as second language so, with non-swedish guests around that would be conversation language.

Depending on your previous intrests or skills we will mix duties you like with duties/skills you want more practice in.

The place is surrounded by forest which gives the opportunity of solitude, hiking routes. Migratory birds arrive around April-May and tend to be heard/seen more intensely during May. Occasionally a fox or a moose may cross your path. Depending on weather and season there are wild berries to pick, mostly blueberries and raspberries, lingonberries later. You are welcome to join if someone goes berry-picking.

The place provides a deep insight into practical local history plus local flora.

Some of us have partnered social dance as a hobby, we will then also participate in the best events around and may also do some practice on our own "dance floor" to share and learn from each other. Special welcome to guests who have an interest in anything like Lindy, Tango, Salsa, Walz, any type op partnered social dance from a fusion perspective.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Accomodation will depend on who else is there. Alternatives are a bunk bed in a dormitory together with some other people in a house with one shower+toilet or a room in the attic in a house with no running water indoor and no cooking facilities in the house. You then use the shower in the main house and have access to the common kitchen there.
Renovation is in progress so accomodation options vary.

Unfortunately we can not plan for special diets but you can have some influence on what food is prepared by participating in cooking /food shopping. We expect participation in maintenance projects on the property according to your skills and according to weather conditions.

There is no public transport nearby, the closest bus stop is 10 km away. You may ask a neighbor to give you a ride or arrange transportation with someone who is staying while you are. There are a number of bicycles available.
