Description
Hello! :-)
We are a small family of four living with some pets in an old half-timbered house next to the forest in the center of Germany.
We are lucky to have a big garden where we grow vegetables during the summer, pick fruit from our orchard, and enjoy evenings with friends and guests around our fire pit.
Our children (7 and 12) like to build things with wood and metal in their workshop and love bicycling. We like to give them the opportunity to grow up open-minded towards people from all around the world. We also like them to get in touch with foreign languages.
There are seasonal tasks such as preparing wood for the oven for winter, preserving the harvest or DIY projects around the house and garden. We like to work together with each other and invite you to be part of it.
Aside from that, we take care of our pets: 1 cat, 2 rabbits, 2 guinea pigs, and 1 horse. With the horse, we work in the potato field once a month. This field is a self-organized community project in our village. If you are interested in joining, you are very welcome!
We like to have a lively house and invite people to different gatherings, such as full moon fires, seasonal festivals, women's circles, and circle dances for peace. You are very welcome to join these as well!
Friends, family members, and Workaway guests visit us during the summer. We like to live and work together consciously and in a spirit of community. -

Accommodation
We have two rooms for guests (one room with a flatable couch and one room with two 140cm wide beds). You will share kitchen and bathroom with us. There is no warm water in the water pipes. For hot water we have an electric kettle in the kitchen, an woodfired oven for bathing/ showering and an electrical boiler underneath the sink in our bathroom, if it is needed. In summer we prefer to go swimming in the nearby lake- of course you are invited to come along!
If you come by your own camper you will find a parking lot in front of the house, next to the small street which is for private use.
We prepare organic food only. Mostly we cook vegan, but eat vegetarian, too. Sometimes we have regional meat.
Further we have got internet and two bikes you could use.
We appreciate a lifestyle without smoking, drinking alcohol, taking drugs and invite you to join us. -
What else ...
Some people say that we live in a region where other people go for a holiday.
You find us in Werra-Meißner-Kreis where there is a beautiful landskape with hills and rivers and wonderful forests which are part of "Frau Holle Land"- the land of the brothers Grimm. The forest starts right behind our house where you can take walks, go hiking or do tours by bike.
Next door is a nice, tiny adventure park which is called "Erlebnispark Ziegenhagen".
100 m from our house is a bus stop. Buses go there once an hour to Witzenhausen. It is the closest town, about 8 km from us, where you find stores, an outdoor swimming pool, a university for ecological agriculture and a tropical greenhouse. Further there are plenty other attractions nearby if you go by car.
For arriving by train you can use the closest station "Witzenhausen - Gertenbach" or the station in Witzenhausen "Witzenhausen Nord". There we can pick you up. -

Space for parking camper vans
We have a parking space right in front of our house. It is next to the street for private use and big enough for any sizes of normal campervans. The street is used by our two neighbours and us and sometimes by workers in the forest only. There are only a few cars passing by during the day.

My animals / pets
Heidi
Heidi is a 16 year old lady, warm hearted, slow and strong. She is from the cold blood breed "Rheinisch deutsches Kaltblut" which became rare since tractors replaced horses in the field. Both of us - horse and human being - are just learning to work in the field together.
