Description
We are a friendly family of four - myself, my husband, and our two older children and a dog - living on the edge of a small village in Twente, surrounded by wide meadows and fresh air. Our home is set on a spacious property with a large garden and an beautiful open view of the rural landscape. We are working on transforming our garden into a natural, edible paradise. We'd love your help with soms of the fun and creative projects we're planning. We do everything as organically and sustainably as we can.
You'll have your own comfortable bedroom, a private bathroom, and optionally your own kitchen. If you'd like, you're warmly welcome to join us for meals and be part of our daily rhythm, of enjoy your own space, whichever suits you best.
We also have a barn where all kinds of hobbies and creative projects are possible - and we love creativity and new ideas. There's lots of room for your own input, and we're very open to sharing and co-creating. Ideally you'll help us in the mornings, mainly with gardening, and we really appreciate people who like to think along and help bring new ideas to life.
We look forward to welcoming someone who enjoys nature, has a hands-on attitude, and is looking for a peaceful and inspiring place to stay!Types of help and learning opportunities

Staying with us means experiencing life in the Dutch countryside, surrounded by nature, fresh air and wide open views. You’ll be part of a Dutch family and get a taste of our everyday life — simple, creative, nature-based and with space for rest and reflection.
We live in the region of Twente, known for its quiet beauty, friendly people and strong local traditions. You can learn about organic gardening, seasonal living, and traditional Dutch home life. We speak Dutch at home but are happy to speak English with you — and if you’re learning Dutch, you’re welcome to practise with us! we also enjoy taking long walks in the beautiful natural areas nearby, and if you like, we'd be happy to take you along.
We love creativity, working with our hands, and building things from scratch — whether it’s in the garden or in our big barn where we sometimes do eco printing or other creative projects. There’s lots of freedom to bring in your own ideas and skills. We believe in sharing knowledge, listening to each other, and enjoying the small things in life.Help
We are looking for help mainly in the garden and around our property. Most of the tasks take place in the mornings, and depending on the task, we either do tasks together or you can do it on your own once you’re familiar with it. We’re happy to guide you and explain everything — and we welcome your own ideas too!
Here are some of the things we might ask your help with:
🌱 Maintaining a vegetable garden
🐓 Helping to design a chicken coop
🌳 Planting and caring for fruit trees and edible plants
🌿 General gardening: weeding, pruning, composting, mulching
🛠️ Light outdoor projects (with tools and support)
🎨 Optional: creative projects in and around the barn or garden (using natural cob or loam clay, and eco printing)
Some tasks we’ll do side by side, especially the bigger or new ones. Others — like weeding or watering — you can do independently at your own pace. You don’t need to be experienced, just willing to learn and enjoy doing tasks with your hands and in nature.Languages

You’ll have your own private bedroom, with a cozy space next to it where you can relax, read, or do some work — there’s a desk available too.
You’ll also have your own bathroom and, if you prefer to cook for yourself now and then, there’s a small kitchen in the barn that you can use.
Of course, you’re very welcome to share meals with our family — we enjoy eating together and having good conversations.
There’s plenty of space in the garden too, so if you travel with a campervan or prefer to stay in a caravan, we can easily arrange a spot for that as well. What else ...
Our work rhythm is usually in the mornings, so you’ll have the afternoons free to relax, explore, or work on your own projects. We especially appreciate people who enjoy thinking along with us and bringing their own skills and inspiration.
We love working outside and creating new things, but due to a neck injury (double hernia), I'm no longer able to do all the heavier work myself. That's one of the reasons why we're looking for people who enjoy helping out with garden tasks and creative projects - your support truly make's a difference and is well appreciated. Of cours there’s also space for peaceful moments, walks in nature, and time for yourself.
There’s a bus stop in the village, and we’re happy to pick you up from the nearest station if needed. A bicycle is useful for getting around — we may have one you can borrow. If you travel by van or prefer sleeping outside, there’s plenty of space in our garden for that too.A little more information
