COVID UPDATE: We do take Covid seriously. We have all been vaccinated with booster and we will require at least the vaccination from anyone staying in any capacity. If you are not of the belief that masks inside crowded buildings and keeping up with and following CDC guidelines is STILL important then this isn't going to work for us.
We are a family home in a quiet neighborhood, 1 mile from the Indian River which is a basin behind the barrier islands on the Atlantic Ocean!! Tucked up by Turkey Creek Sanctuary. We are just getting into 2 properties and need some help!
The house has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. We're looking at the kit. counter replace, bathroom remodels, We have 2 small empty garden beds. We would love to get these planted again, and get started on an herb garden! EVERYTHING is behind schedule, and I spend my time trying to keep ahead of the parcel getting overgrown. Catching and recycling water has been left semi-abandoned, the pool area (professionally taken care of weekly ) and backyard are in dire need of LOVE. Our long-term goal is to have energy-saving, food-producing, environmentally beneficial, and native landscaping with little help from us. Right now, that is a mess! :)
There is a living room/office space that can be closed off from most of the house and a garage living space/laundry room,
We also have a trailer 3 miles from the front door of the house. Pictures MOSTLY of trailer. It is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath that we bought as a fixer-upper March 2020...and then Covid shut the world down and now is now with the workforce/shipping issues.
We have managed to get to the finish/trim work for the most part. Pictures are mostly the trailer.
We use both spaces to house our volunteers, just depends on what life hands us at any given moment. But, work is at both places. And we will need help with finding and picking up the material.
The ultimate goal would be to have a self-sustaining parcel, full of food-producing, water-conserving, shade sitting space to relax, eat and enjoy life under the tree. A spot where the bees, butterflies and local critters can live and thrive!
The short-term goal is the work it takes to get there while catching up on home repairs, updates, and maintenance needed. We are doing this with a mindset of recycling, reusing, repurposing, with a rely on Home Depot!
We can also use a little domestic help, including cooking family meals. Food is provided, but we do not do any of the cooking.
We are LGBTQ & BLM allies (If you are not, don't bother :) ) with a resident cat and dog. The cat who isn't interested in people at all....at first!
We would love to be a host of like-minded people in our corner of the World. We believe we are One Human Family sharing One Planet. And this seems like a WIN-WIN-WIN! You, us and our beautiful historical environment! Think Global, Act Local.
We are on what they call the Space Coast of Florida. Visit the Kennedy Space Museum. You can see a rocket launch from our yard!
Visit St. Augustine, the oldest CITY in the United State of America which is just 2 hours away. Or, Tampa and the white beaches of the Gulf of Mexico is also 2 hours away. Have breakfast and a swim in the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of FL with the surfers and have lunch and a swim in the Gulf of Mexico, beachcombing the white sands for treasures on the west coast of Florida! And still be home for a kayak ride and dinner!!
Orlando and Disney are just an hour away while Miami and the islands of the Florida Keys (Key West!!) southernmost point in the continental USA just 6 hours away!!
Looking forward to trading stories, favorite foods and culture!!

I hope my years of growing up on a Michigan farm and then living in Central and South Florida with 10 years living on a boat full time. (i am still on the boat part time) will contribute to an interesting conversation and that the corner of the world I occupy is of interest to those interested in traveling.

Some help with light mobile home flooring, bath/kitchen cabinet remodel which are the current projects on the house AND the trailer. Landscaping help, including finishing a path. The water conservation, edible sustainable gardening are the top outside projects. And of course I will take help with cooking and cleaning, if that's your thing!
