Description
Hi, we are Wilma from the Netherlands and Franco, a real tico (as they call the costaricans), looking for some extra pair of hands to finish the skoolie on our new campsite in Costa Rica. Also we want to make decks for the little tents. Our campsite is located in a jungle area, at just 2km from the centre of Paquera and at 15 minutes hiking from a lonely beach. On the campsite you're surrounded by nature. Palmtrees (yes, you can open your own coconut!), monkeys (they'll wake you up in the morning), squirrels, colourful birds and fresh air!
It is relaxing, although there is always a lot to do:) Our volunteers sleep in little tents. We use bamboo showers and ecological waterless nature toilets.
In the village you'll find some restaurants, supermarkets and a bakery. On the beach it is nice to relax and in Paquera Bay you can go kayaking or fishing. Paquera Bay is also famous for its bioluminescense year round. From Paquera it is easy to visit Tambor, Santa Teresa and Montezuma. All famous for their beaches and Montezuma also because of the waterfall. Activities in the surroundings: Hiking, horsebackriding, boattour (for example to turtle island), kayaking, fishing, ziplining, visiting Curu national park. By ferry you can visit Puntarenas to go shopping.Types of help and learning opportunities

Besides a bed and food, you can lent our bike to go to the centre and we can take you kayaking. The campsite is near the beach which you can visit. During your time here, you will enjoy the real Costa Rica. There is no wifi on the campground, but you'll find a better connection! If you truly love nature, campfires and being out in the open, this is your place.
Help
We are looking for handy people who want to help us with mainly woodwork and painting. The bus already has beds, but it still needs a kitchen, a bathroom and a deck. So what needs to be done is to sand the wood, paint it and mount it together. If you're handy with a saw and screwdriver, that would be nice. Also to make the decks for the little tents. Roofplates need to be painted. The area needs to be cleaned from fallen leafs and coconuts. We want to paint signs, make wooden trashcans and wooden banks. At times a powerplug or light needs to be connected, so knowledge of electricity is also very welcome! And now and then the outside of the skoolie needs to be cleaned as well as the boat and kayaks. On our campsite there's always a lot to do!

You will stay in a tent on the campground. There are bamboo cold water showers and ecological waterless nature toilets. There is a kitchen that you can use. We will provide some meals or some basic cooking supplies, depending on your diet, the season you will be here, and what we agree.
In Costa Rica we eat a
lot of rice and beans! What else ...
If you like to combine volunteer work and vacation, Paquera is the place to be. With its nature and its beaches it is really relaxing! If you like kayaking, we can take you. Paquera has some nice restaurants for you to enjoy. You can reach Paquera from Puntarenas by ferry. The ferry ride is really nice. It takes 70 minutes and costs less then 2 USD.

Now, with two months of delay: thank you very much for this special experience
Thanks for being with us! Wishing you a lot of nice workaway places for the future!
Being there as a workawayer, I felt a part of the family. The way that both, Wilma and Franco as well as their son took me in was so loving!
I already miss the long talks while and after dinner together :)
Depending on the day, there was hard work to do but I loved it… read more
Nils is a great person and a great workawayer. He helped us with a lot of things. Heavy work, like carrying teakwood poles and preparing roofplates. And he also showed us that he's a great cook! Nils is very good with both people and animals. It's the kind of workawayer that you never want to leave. Nils, we wish you a… read more
