    Description

We are a family of four, soon to become five, and we are looking for an English native speaker au pair to help us with the newborn and the other two children (6 and 4) for approximately one year (September 2026–September 2027).
Our family is joyful and culturally open — my mother-in-law is English and lives in the UK, I work for an international organization in The Netherlands, and we travel regularly abroad with the children.
The role would typically involve mornings with the newborn or school pick-ups and afternoon care for the older two. In return, we offer a warm welcome into family life, a private room, and all the perks of living in one of the world's great cities.
We live in a central but residential area of Rome (Parioli/Flaminio), with plenty of green spaces, easy public transportation to the historical centre, and shops, restaurants, gyms and a concert hall all within walking distance — the best of Rome, without the notorious noise, traffic and long distances.

We love including the people who live with us in our daily life — sharing meals together is a big part of how our family connects, and you would be warmly welcomed at the table. Living in Rome also has its own rewards, and we're happy to share our knowledge of the city — the hidden gems, the neighbourhood rhythms, and the practical know-how that takes years to accumulate. Part of our family also lives in the countryside just outside Rome, so there are opportunities to discover that side of life too — a quieter, greener Rome that most visitors never see. We will also be happy to introduce you to our wider circle of friends and family.
What we hope to gain is simple: the richness that comes from sharing daily life with someone from a different background. Our children especially benefit from growing up with that kind of openness and curiosity around them.

The role would typically involve mornings with the newborn or school pick-ups and afternoon care for the older two. As for the house, we have a cleaning lady three days a week, so your main responsibilities will simply be keeping your room tidy and leaving shared spaces like the kitchen and bathroom clean after using them.

You would have your own private room, with a bathroom shared only with the children (my husband and I have an en suite bathroom in our bedroom).
Food is fully included — you are welcome to eat with the family, and there will always be plenty in the kitchen. We love food and cooking is an important part of our family life, so you can expect good, home-cooked Italian meals as a regular feature of living with us.
