    Description

Greetings to you all lovely people!

We are a Finnish-Persian family of four living in the middle of the woods in Eastern Finland. Last winter we had a journey around Europe, where we went to couple of workaway places in Greece and Italy and we thought it was just great way to meet people, get to know the culture and the land, and just experience the normal way of living. And we thought - let's do this back at home too! So here we are, back at home ready to share our life and land with fellow travellers around the globe.

Little bit more about us... So we are Eija (mother 42) Javad (dad 55), Vilma (daughter 12) and Sahar (daughter 5). We share our life and land with two cats or actually seven now, cause one of them just had five kittens. We have two dogs, both are super kind, the other is a bit wild still cause she is just 3 months old puppy. We also have a pack of chicken and usually also baby chicks.

We live in an old village school on a one hectacre land in the middle of the forrest. We grow our own veggies, herbs and berries. We have a green house where we grow tomatoes, cucumbers, capsicum chillies etc. and also our own grapes. Last year we had enough to make our own wine! We try to be as self sufficient as possible, but in reality it' works mainly on summer time and is a mix of both - getting groceries and adding to it all the goods we get form the land and forrest. The area is quite remote, very quiet, only few cars pass by a day. We love it because of the silence - you can actually hear the birds and the bees and the wind and all the natural sounds and nothing else. It's also very clean, air is pure and good to breathe, the water super clear and tasty to drink. The area of Finland in general is very remote, there are lots of lakes, swamps and endless forrests to roam around. Nature is clean and people are friendly. We are happy to show you around the most beautifull paces around here.

  • Help

    Help

Eija is full time mom and will be at home taking care of the house and the kids. We started our own food truck business last year and Javad is working on that mainly and will not be home most of the time. So helping hands around the house and land are appreciated. The help would be 4-5hours a day max, and it'd be something like watering the plants, cutting grass, chopping and carrying wood, warming sauna, planting seeds, walking the dogs, maybe cooking or baking, vacuuming the house, washing windows etc. Also we are planning to paint the house, so more hands in that project would be great too. Eija will be joining in the tasks with you as much as possible and Javad too, when he is at home.

We love to share our knowledge about everything around the garden and land. We love picking berries and mushrooms from the forrest and we are very happy to share our knowledge and experience on those too. Eija likes and does all kinds of handcrafts and can also share her knowledge on that area. Eija is also a yoga teacher and its possible to practise yoga with her. Javad is a pranayama practitioner and has also been teaching it, so if you have interests in any of these areas, we are happy to share.

    Accommodation

We live in an old and large school building with lots of common space, a large fully equipped kitchen, shower and laundry facilities. There is wood heated sauna on the other side of the yard and a large garden with a terrace. All the spaces are to be used freely. You as a workawayer will have your own spacious room with a toilet. We are happy to provide sheets and towels as well.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is no public transport here, so you will have to have your own car, or we can come and pic you up from Ilomantsi or Eno. They are both at 30 km distance from here and reachable by bus from Joensuu. There is a train connection to Eno from Joensuu railwaystation too.

When at here, we can lend you a bicycle with wich you can drive as far as you have energy. Eija sometimes cycles to Ilomantsi from here, so it is very much possible.

If you enjoy time spent in nature, you will love it here. If busy night life is what you wish for, maybe this is not the best place to be then. Though you can drive to Joensuu from here which has night clubs, bars and all that vivid night life stuff.
