I feel incredibly lucky to have found this ranch and to have met Colleen. She is truly one of the kindest and most caring people I’ve ever had the pleasure of getting to know. From the very beginning, I felt so well looked after and had many meaningful and inspiring conversations with her.

… read more grid with no neighbors – just peace and quiet. Being embraced by stillness like that was a rare and refreshing experience. It was my first time ever staying on a ranch, but that was no problem at all. Colleen explained everything to me with so much patience (even more than once when needed!) and made sure I always felt safe and comfortable.
What I appreciated most was how mindful she is. She’s very attentive to safety, but at the same time, she trusts and encourages you to try new things, as long as you feel confident doing so. I learned so much – not just about the animals and nature, but also about life in general. Colleen is an incredibly strong and capable woman – her knowledge and skills are truly impressive.
The horses are wonderful, and even though I had no riding experience, I was able to go on trail rides with Colleen, which was an unforgettable highlight. And the dogs – I absolutely fell in love with them. They are incredibly well-behaved and affectionate. We had countless cuddle sessions!
This ranch is a perfect place to truly disconnect – there’s no cell service, which made it even easier to slow down and just be present. The work was very fair – never too exhausting, but there was always something to do, so it never got boring either.
Just one word of advice: bring mosquito spray and be prepared to be permanently accessorized with a layer of dog hair – it’s basically part of the dress code. But honestly, it’s all part of the charm!
All in all, this was a deeply enriching experience that I’ll always carry with me. I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful escape into nature with wonderful animals and an amazing host.Left by host for Workawayer (Lena)
Lena is organized, articulate, and pays attention to detail.
She learns quickly and is able to pick up on new skills easily.
Lena is a pleasure to have around, and I highly recommend her:)

I have only one thing to say about this Workaway and it’s that I absolutely recommend it. The place itself is amazing, you are surrounded by a beautiful forest, horses, a creek and more. There are 5 dogs that I already miss (be ready to have dog hair all over your clothes, you won’t escape it). They will give you a lot of love and attention! But
… read more of course, the most wonderful thing about this ranch is the people. Colleen, Darcy, Emmett and Terry are the most generous and friendly people. They quickly made feel a part of the family and offered me all kind of opportunities. I learned how to ride a horse and did some trails in a beautiful forest, we went to visit historical places, we went swimming, etc. I will never forget our canoe trip down the creek. Between the beaver damps, the dogs jumping all around and the beer spiling everywhere in the canoe, I laughed a lot and definitely recommend it if you’re feeling a little adventurous! Anyway, I could go on about how great this place is, but you should just go and see for yourselves, you won’t regret it. If you are looking for somewhere to escape the city and the phones, this is it! I had the best time with them and really wish to see them again. My only regret was that I had to leave so soon. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
