    Description

Hello Workawayers, my name is Diego Osorio. In the municipality of Supía, in the western part of the department of Caldas, my family has managed (since the land isn't ours, although legally it is; we are its owners) a plot of land where we have traditionally cultivated coffee, as in most of the coffee-growing region where we are located. Associated with coffee cultivation are many other species of cultivated and wild plants, native and introduced, from which we receive food, medicine, fertilizer, shade... and thus benefit the other animal species that are associated with this agro-ecosystem and with which we coexist.

Currently, my mother and I live at home. She has traditional knowledge of the land, and I have also been fortunate enough to train as a biologist. We try to apply our knowledge to promote a healthy coexistence with the ecosystem, without neglecting the crops that sustain us. We don't hoard abundant economic resources, nor do we promote ecotourism, as that is a way of commodifying nature. Under the motto "life is diversity," and seeking food sovereignty and security, you will find here, depending on the season, different fruits, vegetables, and wild and cultivated animals.

I am part of a collective that seeks to promote and support projects that connect the cultural and ecological aspects of the territory. We strive for an approach of RESPECT for the ecosystem, rather than commercial exploitation.

It is a wonderful place where you can connect, if you allow it, with the local farming traditions, humility, other living beings, and the ecosystem. You will learn and teach, breathe tranquility, take away beautiful memories and images, and live connected to Mother Earth, the sun, and the sky in general.

You can participate in the collective's activities, such as gatherings, artistic and ecological projects in schools, hikes, photography, social media, and more.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have shared accommodation in a simple room, surrounded by the singing of birds, frogs and crickets that will lull you to sleep and welcome you when you wake up, but safe, healthy and cozy. If you wish, you can bring a tent and camp in the place that best suits you. The meals will be traditional, 3 per day, with a component of fruits and vegetables grown here, just as we eat at home. Since we are not economically wealthy, if you want, it comes from your heart and you have the availability, you can contribute with some food, such as vegetable proteins, or some fresh vegetables that are not produced here. We will cook together and for everyone. Of course, if you wish, you can bring supplements just for yourself, you are not obligated to do anything.
