    Description

Join our small, friendly household just steps from the sea! You’ll have use of a pool, sunny terraces, and two train stations within 20 minutes’ walk for quick, frequent trips to Barcelona.

It’s just me (46), my 12-year-old son, our gentle 17-year-old cat, and a playful 6-month-old Jack Russell puppy. We speak mainly English, with a little Spanish.

We’d love a helping hand with cooking, cleaning, laundry, and the occasional bit of pet care. In return, you’ll enjoy a relaxed home base by the coast with all the charm of a seaside town and the buzz of the city just a train ride away.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Living with us means you’ll experience a unique “Spanglish” environment. English is our main language at home, but you’ll be surrounded by Spanish culture the moment you step outside. Our coastal town has a relaxed Mediterranean feel, with local markets, tapas bars, and festivals where you can practise your Spanish and immerse yourself in daily life here.

At home, you’ll be part of our family rhythm: sharing meals, conversations, and maybe even a few kitchen experiments as we swap recipes and cooking styles. We’re happy to help you improve your English, and we’d love to pick up some of your language and culture too.

We often take trips to nearby beaches, coastal walks, and into Barcelona, and you’re welcome to join when you like. We’re curious and open-minded, and enjoy learning from the experiences, traditions, and ideas that our guests bring with them. Whether it’s teaching us a new dish, showing us music from your country, or sharing stories from your travels, we see this as an opportunity for genuine cultural exchange and friendship.

  • Help

    Help

Most days, you’ll help with general household tasks: things like cooking simple meals, keeping the house tidy, doing laundry, and occasionally lending a hand with our pets. Some days we might work side-by-side, especially in the kitchen, which can be a great opportunity to swap recipes and cooking tips. Other times, you might work independently while we’re out or busy.

If you enjoy animals, you’ll also have the chance to help care for our lively Jack Russell puppy and our gentle, elderly cat. From walks and playtime to feeding and cuddles.

We see this as a friendly exchange, so there’s always room to share skills and ideas. Whether it’s showing us how to make your favourite dish, learning some English or Spanish together, or teaching us something new, we’re open to making it a fun and collaborative experience.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You’ll have a private twin room on the first floor of our home, close to the front door. The room has two single beds, a cupboard for storage, and is right across from a bathroom with a toilet, shower, and small bath. This will be predominantly for your use, as our bedrooms and bathrooms are on the second floor.

The house also has a third-floor office where I work during the day, but the rest of the home is yours to enjoy, including the terraces and pool.

Food is provided, and we try to share evening meals together as a family whenever possible.. You’re welcome to help yourself to breakfast and lunch from the kitchen, and we’re happy to accommodate most dietary needs with a little notice.

We keep the home clean and comfortable, and you’ll have a safe and private space to rest after exploring the coast or Barcelona.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We’re a very relaxed, pretty quiet household: more about sunny mornings and coastal walks than late-night parties. We’d like someone who’s also laid back, happy to help out around the house, and who values keeping things clean and tidy with good personal hygiene.

In your free time, there’s plenty to enjoy nearby: we’re just 5 minutes from the ocean, so you can swim, sunbathe, or take coastal walks. There are two train stations within a 20-minute walk with regular services into Barcelona City, perfect for day trips to explore its food, art, and culture. Local buses also run to nearby towns and beaches if you feel like exploring without going into the city.

We don’t have many house rules: just the basics: treat our home with respect, keep shared spaces tidy, and be considerate of the peaceful atmosphere we enjoy here.

    Can host digital nomads

Our home can work well for digital nomads, as long as you’re able to fit your own work around helping us with household tasks. We have a reliable internet connection and a quiet atmosphere most of the time, especially during the day when my son is at school and I’m working from the third-floor office. You’ll have your own comfortable room and bathroom, so it’s easy to keep your workspace separate from family life. We’re flexible with schedules: as long as the agreed help gets done, you’ll have plenty of time to work on your own projects or explore the area. The combination of a peaceful home, sea breezes, and quick train access to Barcelona means you can enjoy both focused work time and rich cultural experiences.
