Description
Hey there! A little bit about us:
We are a family farm inviting open-minded, practical, and positive people from around the world to join/help on our 1,200-acre family ranch, aiming for self sufficiency right on a big lake, in beautiful rural British Columbia, Canada.
After more than 20 years of work, planning, and investment, we have created a place designed for resilience, sustainability, and harmony with nature. On our ranch we have two large gardens, horses, chickens, sheep, dogs, cats, rabbits, etc., and lots of projects in the making!
Currently there are three of us living here.
Selma is 18 years old, and graduated highschool last year. She has lived on this ranch majority of her life and has been managing it for the last two years.
Hans (Selma’s father), bought this ranch about 28 years ago, and since then has been striving to get it to a point of self-sufficiency for him and his family.
Kyle is a friend/helper in his 30’s who has been living here for the past two years. He has a masters in environmental science.
We all are very open-minded and love meeting new people!
Our land sits at 900 metres / 3,000 feet elevation, about 250 km inland from the Pacific Ocean. This gives us fresh mountain air, a healthy climate, fewer pests, and a peaceful natural setting surrounded by forests, lakes, and wilderness. We are located very rural, about a 2 hour drive to the next town (Burns Lake) and main store.
Other things available here:
Large fertile gardens with a growing permaculture focus
Clean water and abundant fresh air
Access to fishing lakes, berries, mushrooms, and wild nature nearby
Peaceful and safe rural environment
Access by road, boat, and small aircraft (private registered airstrip)
Space for creativity, independence, and meaningful projects
Who We’re Looking For:
We are specifically looking for one or two people who love nature as much as we do, and who are able to stay out here at least 4 weeks around May-June/July (longer stay may be discussed).
People who are practical, kind, and independent. Skills in gardening, building, carpentry, animals, mechanics, wellness, or simply a strong work ethic are all appreciated but not a must, as long as you are willing to learn and work!
You would be helping us with things such as: Gardening, weeding, fencing, lambing, cleaning brush, etc. You will be helping on our private farm.
If this resonates with you, we would love to hear from you!

We grow/harvest most food basics ourselves (eggs, meat, potatos, beets, carrots, lettuce, etc.) which you are welcome to use!
Usually a town trip is made once every 2 weeks where we buy other necessities. General food will be provided but if you have special wishes (candy, alcohol etc.) you will be expected to buy it yourself.
