Description
===========Help me prepare my garden and house for summer visitors.
===========
I am Scottish and in my seventies; I retired from teaching and moved to Greece 18 years ago to live overlooking the Aegean in a simple little house set in a beautiful garden and an olive grove. I began to host Workawayers thirteen years ago and found it to be a rewarding experience as, I believe, did they. I have a little studio here and, before the season begins in May, I need help with preparation for friends and family. This means gardening, weeding, sweeping, cleaning, painting etc. .

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
While I cannot offer a lively and action packed stay, those who come see the real Greece, the peace and beauty of the island. The house is situated just outside Glossa. It is a twenty minute walk to the village or the nearest beach. Buses run past the house two or three times a day and run all round the island and to the main town of Skopelos.
You could learn basic painting and gardening skills, how to pace yourself and prioritise tasks, how to work independently and be self sufficient, and how to enjoy your own company.
If you like peace to read, write or make music, you'll find it here. If you love to walk and hike you will find beautiful trails throughthe forests leading to wonderful beaches. If you choose, you can experience a truly authentic Greek Island.
Help
I need basic gardening also possibly repainting and maintenance. The help is outdoors and dependent on weather. Most Workawayers work early in the morning and have the rest of the day at leisure.
My partner has a house and garden close by. He is renovating and may occasionally ask for help at his place instead.

Accommodation
You will live in my little 'Donkey House, a small detached studio annexe with a double bedroom, separate shower room and small kitchen, which friends and family use in summer. You will have the use of the large garden and pool.
The kitchen will be stocked with basic provisions and we will share occasional meals but generally but you will be expected to provide and cook your own non-basic food in your own little kitchen. This gives you freedom to choose your own diet and menus and to benefit from picnic meals out and local dishes.
What else ...
Travel both to and from, and around the island can be tricky. Make sure you understand where you are coming to before you contact me!
You need to be a person who likes quiet, walking, hiking, birdwatching, reading, etc and is happy NOT to be in a major centre. The island is beautiful but there is a great deal to see and do unless you are fascinated by the local culture and the wonderful Greeks. There are dozens of beautiful beaches, but be aware it is a 20 minute walk to get to them or to the village.
I am looking for a couple who can entertain and be company for eachother.
I look forward to hearing from you and ask me about anything at all!

Despite a rather rushed and serendipity introduction which left both host and Workawayer unsure what to expect, Tom proved himself adaptable, hard- working, reliable, and cheerful, completing even unpleasant tasks with a will, and often in rough weather.

I (only) spent 10 days as a workawayer at Heather's place this very February. Mostly weeding (at this time of year) in her incredibly beautiful garden. I really enjoyed it.
