Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Open to host good people from anywhere. Cultural exchange happens in the kitchen! Expect to cook meals together as well a go out with with us as our guest. Hosted our first workway guest for 15 days in July 2024; a Japanese traveler so we upped my salmon intake by 1000%😂- fantastic time with Ibuki (pictured).
Plenty of nature to enjoy in the area; walks throughout the city and along the river Washington DC, Virginia & Maryland.
Dad is a talker so there will be cultural exchange from an 83 year old as well. Prepare yourself to learn how great the 1950s were😄. Lived in Europe for 10 years for school/work. Brazil 1 year for work. Albuquerque 8 months. Mexico 5 months.
We're located at the 20 minutes from Washington DC, the capital and cultural capital of the US.
DC tours by car and by foot- mandatory:).
All Smithsonian museums are free.
If you're good with public transportation: We're at the Columbia Pike Mason District 16A ( from the Pentagon) or 26A bus line from East Falls Church subway (Orange line).
Visits to Baltimore and Annapolis if interested:) -
Help
What to expect... Not so dogmatic.
Help with any of the following would be appreciated.
1. Healthy cooking /socializing with my dad is always a fun cultural exchange. My first job was at a health food store so keeping it clean. We often use a Norwalk juicer - if you can operate one, stay as long as you'd like😅 Big into Dr. Gundry- so using the pressure cooker is great.
2. Organizing anything really: Help with arranging paintings, Marie Kondoing or organizing our library books by category if you're OCD 😂- I am.
3. Gardening - slow gradual improvements planting around the house. Herbs. Just purchased vegetable seeds. Room for improvement if you have a green thumb.
4. Art projects....name it.
... All really depends on your interests. -
