Description
Corazón de Barro is our home and project in the heart of the Andean Patagonia. We are Meli, Iván and our 7-year-old daughter Alen. After traveling for many years through different countries and living in different places in Patagonia, we decided to put down roots in San Martín de los Andes. Four years ago we began the green construction of our home in a wooded area a few kilometers from the center. It is a two-story octagonal house, built of wood and mud. It is located on a hill between the Lacar and Lolog lakes. The surroundings are surrounded by a magnificent native forest, with paths that lead to beautiful views of the Lolog lake and the Lanin Volcano. We currently live in this house, which is very cozy and comfortable. We do not have electricity from the grid, so the time of use and charging of electronic devices is limited. The heating and main kitchen is wood-burning. We also have a bottled gas stove. We have only one bathroom for the family and volunteers. The water that reaches the house comes from a spring.
Corazón de Barro es nuestro hogar y proyecto en el corazón de la Patagonia andina. Somos Meli, Iván y nuestra hija Alen de 7 años. Después de viajar por muchos años por diferentes paises, y vivir en diferentes lugares de la Patagonia, decidimos echar raices en San Martín de los Andes. Ya hace 4 años que iniciamos la bioconstrucción de nuestro hogar en una zona boscosa a pocos kilómetros del casco céntrico.
Se trata de una casa octogonal de dos plantas, construida en madera y barro. La misma se encuentra en un cerro entre los lagos Lacar y Lolog. El entorno está rodeado de un magnífico bosque nativo, con sederos que te llevan a hermosas vistas del lago Lolog y el Volcán Lanin.
Actualmente vivimos en esta casa, que es muy acogedora y confortable. No disponemos de electricidad de red, por lo que el tiempo de uso y carga de artefactos electrónicos es limitado. La calefacción y cocina principal es a leña. También disponemos de una cocina a gas envasado. Contamos con un solo baño para la familia y los voluntarios. El agua que llega a la casa es de vertiente.

In our home they will be able to learn and practice Spanish, as well as teach other languages to our daughter. They will be able to learn about typical Argentine and Chilean cuisine at home, and share with us conversations, experiences and meals. We will share knowledge about green construction and how the whole process of building our home was. San Martín de los Andes offers various cultural activities, such as museums, cinema, theaters and street performances in season, which we usually participate in. The natural environment is amazing, located in the Lanin National Park, surrounded by lakes and volcanoes. There are many outdoor activities to enjoy the environment and the mountains, which we can do together during our free days.
En nuestro hogar podrán aprender y practicar español, así como enseñar otros idiomas a nuestra hija. Podrán aprender sobre cocina típica argentina y chilena en casa, y compartir con nosotros charlas, experiencias y comidas.
Compartiremos conocimientos sobre bioconstrucción y cómo fue todo el proceso de construcción de nuestro hogar.
San Martín de los Andes ofrece diversas actividades culturales, como museos, cine, teatros y espectáculos callejeros en temporada de los que solemos participar.
El entorno natural es alucinante, emplazado en el Parque Nacional Lanin, rodeado de lagos y volcanes. Hay muchas actividades outdoor para disfrutar del entorno y la montaña, de las que podemos recorrer juntos durante los días libres.

Help
We are looking for help with various tasks related to house construction, daily maintenance (such as collecting firewood) and land improvement (such as weeding, garden preparation and gardening). We will share knowledge about co-construction and sustainable water management, depending on the tasks that are assigned to the volunteers when they arrive.
Buscamos ayuda para diversas tareas de construcción de la casa, mantenimiento cotidiano (como recolectar leña) y mejoramiento del terreno (como desmalezado, preparación de huerta y jardinería).
Compartiremos conocimientos sobre biconstrucción y manejo sustentable del agua, dependiendo las tareas que toquen al llegar los voluntarios.

Accommodation
We offer camping space and use of the main house bathroom, with shower and hot water. We also provide hosts with tents, mattresses and bedding. Use of the kitchen if you need to heat water. All meals will be provided by us and shared at our table (breakfast, lunch and dinner). In case the weather is rainy or very cold, we offer space to sleep inside, in the living room.
Ofrecemos espacio para acampar y uso del baño de la casa principal, con ducha y agua caliente. También ofrecemos carpa para dos personas, bolsas de dormir, aislantes y mantas. Uso de cocina si necesitan calentar agua. Todas las comidas las proveeremos nosotros y las compartiremos en nuestra mesa (desayuno, almuerzo y cena). En caso que el clima esté lluvioso o muy frio, ofrecemos espacio para dormir dentro, en el living.
What else ...
We can pick them up at the terminal or airport when they arrive. They can also travel with us in our car when the hours are right. There is a bus that goes from our house to the centre of the village and vice versa. The stop is 1.5km from the house. A small dog and a cat live with us.
Podemos buscarlos en el terminal o aeropuerto cuando lleguen. También podrán moverse con nosotros en nuestro auto cuando coincidan las horas. Hay un colectivo que va desde nuestra casa al centro del pueblo y viceversa. La parada se encuentra a 1,5km de la casa.
Con nosotros viven una perra pequeña y un gato.

Hay espacio disponible para acampar y/o estacionar. La descarga de aguas negras de las autocaravanas debe realizarse en el pueblo, en un lugar especifico para tal fin. Pueden usar el baño de la casa, con ducha y agua caliente.
