Description
Hey!
We are Jakob and Elias, two friends from Germany, trying to create a self-sufficient life on a farm in Lithuania. We have been working on it for two years, turning it into a place we call home now. We have already started a new season of gardening and building. Though it always feels more meaningful when shared. Therefore, we are welcoming people to come and join us in this way of living.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
The village we live in is situated quite remote from the city, with only a few neighbours around. So be prepared to arrive in the nature and mainly spend your time here. There is a lake within 15 minutes of walking, places to hike or go around by bike. The region of Aukštaitija offers many beautiful lakes, parks, and towns that you can explore.
On the property, there is a little indoor climbing room and a traditional sauna that can be heated from time to time. There are places to make campfires and grill. For those who are interested, we can share our knowledge about building, carpentry, gardening, and the basics of preserving home-grown produce.
Every Wednesday you will be welcome to join our friends gathering on the farm, where you can meet locals. For more international experience, there is a town nearby, where they sometimes organise Erasmus or other projects. It's possible to join their events and meet people. Also, during the summer we will go to some festivals and concerts, you would also be welcome to join us.Help
Currently, our main projects are working on a permaculture garden, building a wooden house, and bringing life to a freshly dug pond. Also, caring about animals (chickens, sheep, others might join soon) and doing some general farm tasks. There is always something to do, so we can discuss how you would like to contribute. New ideas are also welcome! Experience is not needed until you are motivated to participate.

During the summer, we could offer to sleep in a tent or a tipi. If you prefer indoors, there is a shared room. If needed, we can also provide a simple personal room. Vans are welcome too.
The kitchen is shared. We have a hot shower and an outside toilet.
Most of our meals we are cooking and eating together. We would be happy to share it with you. It's mainly vegetarian but we also eat meat. If you have special needs or want to cook for yourself, we can provide the groceries. What else ...
There is no public transport here, but we can bring you to the bus stops close by. You can also use a bike to go around. The nearest town with a shop is 7km away (Antaliepte). For shopping, we can go together once a week or more often to Utena (25km away).
