    Description

We are a long-time environmental/social ecology couple. Nancy is a professional writer and one of the Institute's original members. She came to PEI to build the Ark Bioshelter and never left. (Nancy is also a great animal protector. If you don't like dogs, cats, or wildlife, please don't bother to contact us.)
Phil studied Social Ecology with Murray Bookchin. He created one of the first certified organic farms in Atlantic Canada, which he ran for a dozen years before moving to PEI.
We founded the Institute. in 1995. Since then, our work has focused on environmental education (climate change), organic gardening and farming, green building, and local economic prosperity.

This year, at our homestead in Eastern PEI, we converted a wooden fishing boat into a cottage and erected two unique belle tents. We would enjoy hosting folks who enjoy gardening, landscaping and general woodworking/carpentry. We always seem to have a project on the go. We have Internet access, pets, and can consider individuals, couples, or families.
